Well, it sounds like in the not too distant future, universities and their athletic departments will become separate entities and the players will become employees who wear the school's licensed name, colors, and logo on their uniforms. Academic standards? Going to class? Grades? Getting a degree? Right.

That is all gone in the brave sports new world. I would not expect "university" teams to have any claim on students' entertainment dollars or alumni loyalty. The "university" teams are just professional farm leagues for the NBA. They have been that way for years but one peel of the illusion after another keeps getting peeled away.stlcatfan wrote: ↑March 15th, 2024, 3:41 pmWell, it sounds like in the not too distant future, universities and their athletic departments will become separate entities and the players will become employees who wear the school's licensed name, colors, and logo on their uniforms. Coach Tang is in the rumor mill for the Louisville job per this article. Some guy on ESPN College Game Day mentioned Coach Tang as a replacement at Louisville, but said his buyout is $6,000,000 and that is a problem.

you know, coach is not going to get the christian views leeway at most any public university that he gets at k-state. i believe the real danger for us is coach drew taking the louisville job and coach tang going back home to waco. but i for the life of me don't understand why drew would leave baylor?

If you are a successful coach at a P4 location, I have no idea why you would go to that scandal ridden cesspool Louisville. You have to compete against the ghost of Denny Crum, the blue blood Kentucky snobs, and the ethics of Rick Pitino. There is nothing special about Louisville.tmcats wrote: ↑March 16th, 2024, 12:53 pmyou know, coach is not going to get the christian views leeway at most any public university that he gets at k-state. i believe the real danger for us is coach drew taking the louisville job and coach tang going back home to waco. but i for the life of me don't understand why drew would leave baylor?

I think any blue blood in the nation could go after Drew and he’d say no. He built the Baylor program. Has his stamp all over it. Has his assistants all over college basketball as head coaches at other schools. He has a new arena. He always has a top caliber recruiting class. He’s beloved by the Baylor fans. And finally Baylor is just a better job than is Louisville now. Ricky left that place in flames and it’s still smoldering. They need to go after the supposed current hot mid major HC or a top assistant at a good program.tmcats wrote: ↑March 16th, 2024, 12:53 pmyou know, coach is not going to get the christian views leeway at most any public university that he gets at k-state. i believe the real danger for us is coach drew taking the louisville job and coach tang going back home to waco. but i for the life of me don't understand why drew would leave baylor?
Unless God tells Tang to go to Louisville he’s not going anywhere.

odd
adjective
different from what is usual or expected; strange:
I thought the Nebraska Cornhusker team when they came into Bramlage was just odd for a P5 team.
They are up double digits on Illinois at half and lose by double digits.
Now I predict they finally win their FIRST NCAA Tournament game.

There's 7:52 left in the game and Houston has just five second half points!
