Cats vs Spartans
Only upper seeded team thats an underdog for the sweet 16 games. Spartans open a -1.5 point favorite.
Was also an underdog to Kentucky, so just how we like it.

Does the Big 12 play a different style of basketball then the BIG 10?
If so, what is the difference? Will it cause MSU problems?
Is playing physical basketball a factor. Seems like we played more physical and faster than Kentucky.

I actually like this matchup. Tom Izzo has beaucoup experience with MSU in the Tourney, but they are not as talented as Marquette.

cats are quicker, longer, deeper, and better at guard. nyc youngsters - or is it kids, cal? - going home to play in the garden will have a lot of emotion to deal with. that worries me more than sparty or izzo.

Izzo's teams always crash the boards hard. We need to emphasize keeping them off the offensive boards. If we can limit them to 1 and done possessions, we will win this ballgame.

Defending the 3 maybe key to this game and not go 0fer the first half this time.

msu had a bad 3-point shooting performance against marquette as well. our guys got good looks, just didn't knock 'em down. keyontae was particularly bad overall (5-14) pretty much the entire game. he's due.
this will be a game of guards. they are msu's strength as well.

Speculation on my part - I hope the KSU Athletic Department runs interference for the team and coaches relative to the New York media. The distractions could be large. I believe MSU has played in early season tournaments in the Garden so it will not be that new.

Izzo's a GREAT coach IMHO. Don't even think about this being a ++ matchup b/c of the seeding. The seeding's irrelevant. Reminds me of the 50+ year old quote (was it Abe Martin?) about the definition of a good coach: "He can take his'n and beat your'n and take you're and beat his'n."
