Yes, that 75 team was amazing. Two of the best teams I've ever seen play the game. I was sitting at the high school final four game, at Market Square Arena, as the Kentucky-IU game was being played. They kept updating the score on the board.....nip and tuck all the way.tmcats wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 10:05 ambobby knight was just an incredibly gifted basketball coach. the last coach to win the olympics with college players. his 1976 indiana undefeated national champions are considered by some the best team ever, but the '75 one-loss hoosiers were better. they lost scott may to a broken arm and went down 92-90 to uk in the e8. if not for that injury, it would have been two consecutive championships and 62-straight wins.
and ya, i got teared-up watching that scene yesterday. all those great players surrounding him: isiah thomas, quinn buckner, scott may, steve green, kent benson, on and on. these two pictures juxtaposed. geezzz, the years. it closed a very large hole in indiana basketball lore though, his return. hopefully, his name graces the assembly hall court soon and many a brookie rise to his bait.
hey hoosiers, bob knight returning to assembly hall today ...

learnin', you may recall that the iu/uk regional was not on tv. instead, the stations all carried "hoosier hysteria," the state high school basketball championship, the games you attended.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

Steve Downing was one of my all time favorite IU basketball players. He scored 40 some points against Kentucky during his junior year. He went on to work in Athletic Administration at IU and Texas Tech.
