winter weather

Post by kinsleycat » November 25th, 2018, 2:47 pm

After 2 straight years of no snow, we've now had our 4th snowfall of this winter and it's still November. Will this be a winter of high snowfall? I don't know but this is looking ominous. Luckily we've avoided the heavy snow so far. Total for the year is probably only 10" or so. Good luck to you guys in the blizzard areas today, stay safe.

been around long enough to think I see a pattern: early season snow, cold leads to later season moderation.
only time will tell.

We probably only had 2" or so of snow but it was impossible to get out to my cows yesterday. Along the bare fields there were drifts from 2 to 3 ft. deep in places. County had the road open by 8:30 this morning.

In Olathe, we had 4". It was a pretty wet and heavy snow. Everyone be safe wherever you are.

As of March 3 we've had snowfall on 15 or 16 occasions this winter We've been lucky and have missed the heavy snows so far. (knock on wood). But what's up with this below zero weather and wind chills around -15? For Pete's sake it's March! Time for temps in the 50's or 60's. I'm getting tired of winter.

I'm tired of winter, too, but not nearly as much as my cattlemen neighbors who have suffering through one of the toughest calving seasons in a long time. Lots of baby calves are cashing it in from the frigid and wet weather.

Sorry to hear that about the calves. I complain that it is too cold to get outside to work in the garden. Obviously, my complaint is nothing to what others are dealing with.

This has been the mildest winter I can remember. it was only the last few days that I had to chop ice in the horse's buckets.

It has been 18-22 the last few nights. But, by the end of the week we are right back to 70's ad 80's.

i'm lovin' it!
