Article: Spradling key to KSU's success
Re: Article: Spradling key to KSU's success
Just don't understand how they could cancel the tourney. And don't use the excuse that the NBA, NCAA, MLB, etc all canceled. Those games have what, 15-20K in attendance? Some of these HS games have maybe 200? Half the teams were already done too. Why couldn't they have limited attendance? Have people sit 6' apart from each other?
A lot of the students went back to school today to be around 200, 500, 1000 or more students and faculty. So playing a game is worse than that? Full on panic mode

Probably should have played them without fans. But, we need to realize what they are trying to prevent. They are trying to prevent the healthcare system from being overwhelmed by spreading out the exposure. We're all going to get this virus at some point. Some won't know they have it, some will get mildly sick with cold like symptoms while others will feel real bad. The compromised will fight for their life and this is what they are trying to prevent. Large gatherings will spread this virus very rapidly causing thousands to come down with the virus at the same time. Hospitals will be stressed to the limit, if thousands of elderly and compromised come down with this virus at the same time. If the exposure is spread out over a year or two, the system will not be strained.

Good points. Unfortunately, declaring national and local emergencies and shutting down schools, tournaments, pro sports, etc., has caused people to start panic buying. Store shelves are emptying because many people are buying WAY more than they need for themselves and their families, leaving others with next to nothing. I also feel sorry for all those who are secondarily affected by the virus and are losing money or their jobs.learnin wrote: ↑March 13th, 2020, 11:32 pmProbably should have played them without fans. Hopefully, with us moving into spring and summer, the spread of the virus will slow down and people can start returning to a more normal way of life.

learnin, you are spot on. This is a time that will test all of us as citizens. Do we really care for our fellow man, or is that just a myth or a hope? Regardless, the only way to mitigate this crisis is to make sacrifices. If we're not willing to do that, then we're in a sorry state. Missing sports events should be a bare minimum of what's asked of us. Let's see what this country is made of.learnin wrote: ↑March 13th, 2020, 11:32 pmProbably should have played them without fans. People will be rather magnanimous until the hard chips are down. Then they will switch to every person for him/herself. Not surprising. Goes straight to self-preservation.
Wife and I were in Wally World yesterday. Almost chaotic. Lots of shelves was understocked. Did notice that almost every box of flavored kids cereal was gone and the TP section was yellow-tape closed.

Situations, such as these, tend to separate the chaff from the grain. If people would just stop and think. If one comes down with this virus and has to self quarantine, one always has a neighbor, family member, friend, or the 911 system to call and ask that basics be brought to them. Having said that, we are always advised to have a two week supply of the basics on hand, at any time, in case of emergency.ToledoCat#2 wrote: ↑March 14th, 2020, 10:12 amPeople will be rather magnanimous until the hard chips are down.
