Re: Dai Dai Gone!!
I wonder if one of the incoming guards was given more NIL$ than Ames, and that, along with encouragement from his agent, is why Ames opted out.
Will coaches start talking about things like this the more they get burned?

A person can be a socialist in a capitalist society, but a person is not allowed to be a capitalist in a socialist society.

"What is your fair share of what someone else has worked for?" Sowell
On Fitz's daily delivery on YouTube I believe it was Dai Dai's mom who posted. She said that his role needed to increase and not go backwards and they felt like they couldn't trust the coaches anymore, apparently because he thought he should be starting, I assume, but, instead the coaches keep bringing in more players. Personally I think he was progressing thanks to his efforts and those of the coaches and staff and I don't think he will be promised the keys to the car at any high major program, just a role and a chance to compete for time. That is probably what our staff told him for next year. Sad to see him go but I think this represents, again, the player and his crew thinking the growth was all due to him and he should be given the role to run the show when he may or may not be ready to do so. We had a 19-15 team this year, the roster needed to improve and, in doing so, the roles would naturally shift. A rising tide lifts all boats so team improvement would have raised the spotlight on Dai Dai. It is up to the player to earn a step forward and increased competition within the team just means better chances for improvement. I wish him the best and appreciate his time with the Cats. Unfortunately, all of the talking heads, weak administrators, congressmen seeking votes, have given players many opportunities, which is fine, but with no guard rails so even though young players like Dai Dai have the opportunity to leave, the coaches also have a vast amount of other players that are always coming available.

So basically we traded Dai Dai Ames for Dug McDaniel. Based on highlight films and stats, I believe we made an upgrade.
If we add Khalif Battle, which the rumor mill says we are signing, that is an upgrade from Cam Carter.
CJ Jones and Hausen can probably, together, replace Perry's production and be more consistent in doing it.
Biggest concern is a legitimate big. Assuming Kaluma is 100% gone, we are left with Manning, Rich, and N'Guessan.
Assuming we do not lose someone else. I am still shocked Manning has not entered.

Good points. It can be frustrating losing players like RJ and Dai Dai to the portal and turning over the roster every year, but honestly, I think the portal has worked to our benefit more than it has hurt us so far this spring with who we lost compared to who we have coming in.jeffmax26 wrote: ↑April 29th, 2024, 2:08 pmSo basically we traded Dai Dai Ames for Dug McDaniel. Regarding Manning, maybe he is smart enough to know that if he enters the portal, he may be lucky to get picked up by a mid-major school. Right now, he is on a full-ride scholarship and making NIL money at a Big 12 school. If he keeps working hard, he will see more playing time.
Now watch us sign a forward and see Manning go into the portal, too. I hope that's not the case.

Man, this one really stinks.
He was my favorite player on the team and I looked forward to watching him grow.
He started as a freshman, so don't really get this.

We brought Dug in and he likely gets 35 minutes a game. Can not blame Ames. In pre portal days, he would have a role similar to Stokes, Pullen or Angel as a sophomore.
Lots of P5 teams need a starting point guard. IE TT, WVU and Colorado just in the Big 12.

This is the website for the company Mr Lieb works for. I would suggest we all take a moment to view this thing. My take - It screams
SHOW ME THE MONEY
OH, it also looks like it was designed by a High School Senior.
