Finister had his moments, but he is a better fit to carve out a role on a mid-major team.
I hate to see that, hopefully he'll find a good landing spot.
He had good moments, but .......

So that’s Perry, McNair, Carter and Finister that are not going to be back. 4 scholarships

Kaluma, Glover and N’Guessan are all question marks.

Ames, Jones, Rich, Colbert and Manning are what’s currently still committed.

Castillo is currently the only commit.

We need some dudes.

Okay, Big Bird protecting the rim and Cookie Monster on defense. This could work!

This portal crap is fun!

I am surprised how many freshmen are going into the portal. I could see the trend of players jumping every year. Jumping could be limited by a school refusing to accept credits for transfer. Well that ain't going to happen. Players are going to play 4 years, and most never get a degree.

Meanwhile I get excited about seeing how this all shakes out for K State.

The portal is a double edged sword, I think. It is exciting seeing the potential of guys who are interested and come to play at KState. But by the same token, they can all leave just as easily as they show up. Incoming freshmen are still mostly immature, I blame covid and AAU ball for that, and many times they feel entitled to playing time. For whatever reason a coach won't play them--might be lack of defense, lack of basketball IQ. It might be their body language and discipline, or it could be their work ethic. Either way, they are not meeting the coach's expectations. So those guys are looking for a way out to.... satisfy their egos, I guess.

I don't like the portal in basketball because there seems to be no fences, no loyalty, no playing for each other because they deserve better than the rest of the guys. I think it will eventually even out, but it is going to take a while to put that cat back into a bag. Kids matured more when they transferred and had to sit out a year, which tested their 'how bad to you want it?' lobe in their brains. It allows them to continue to be selfish and immature, which means it is hard to coach kids who don't think they need to be coached or developed more because they're good to go.

I think it is different in football. High school seniors show up on campus seeing that they need to add muscle mass to compete. The redshirt for incoming freshmen is the norm. In basketball skinny and scrawny won't keep you off the floor if you can shoot and are fast. Basketball redshirts don't exist any more it seems. They'll leave to see who is willing to butter their bread without them having to really commit to their school, their coach and their teammates.

I would like to see Glover come back next season, but I don't think anyone will be surprised if he doesn't return. I know a lot of folks expect that Manning or others may also hit the portal, I hope that is not the case, especially with the true freshmen. The potential is there. They just need time to develop. Right now, (I think) we have five scholarships available for next season. If we can infuse some good talent with our current group, we could have a nice 2024-25 season.

Get used to turning over practically the entire roster every year.
