Nice to see families of players and coaches moving to the Little Apple. Indicates more than a passive commitment to the Wildcats.
Coach Tang is a new head coach with a lot of energy and crazy faith. However, he may have to slow his roll, bite his tongue, curb the enthusiasm and keep it real. Under promise and over deliver would be a good approach going forward. But I do admire his positive attitude among other things.

well said, katlander. those are my feelings as well. setting expectations is a large part of successfully managing any enterprise.

Last years guys quickly jelled and came together as a team. This year's bunch struggled to become a cohesive unit. I think they really gave it their all but just couldn't quite get there on a consistent basis.
Does the ease of last year's development vs the struggles of this year make Coach Tang great one year and a failure the next. Not to me. He needs 2 or 3 transfer dudes once again and if we are able to get the right guys then shebang, off to the races.

If you are going to judge any coach on two years, especially during the age of the transfer portal, you will be firing a lot of coaches. You have to let the guy build his program. Hopefully he doesn't lose too many good players to the portal, but it is a possibility that may happen. I really don't see how anyone can build and sustain a program squarely on portal guys.katlander wrote: ↑March 8th, 2024, 12:09 pmLast years guys quickly jelled and came together as a team. A person can be a socialist in a capitalist society, but a person is not allowed to be a capitalist in a socialist society.

agree, spot. a coach takes his team to the e8 in year one and then struggles in the second, so he's either great or not fit? come on, man.spot2180 wrote: ↑March 8th, 2024, 1:05 pmIf you are going to judge any coach on two years, especially during the age of the transfer portal, you will be firing a lot of coaches. This is why I hope that we can hang on to as many underclassmen as possible. There's not a bad kid in the bunch. Yes, some players are better than others right now, but staying in the program gives them all the opportunity to grow. I just want the transfer portal to be used kind of like it is for football right now (i.e., plugging a gap in an area of need). IMO, right now our biggest need going into next season will be at center to replace McNair, especially if N'Guessan leaves, too.spot2180 wrote: ↑March 8th, 2024, 1:05 pmIf you are going to judge any coach on two years, especially during the age of the transfer portal, you will be firing a lot of coaches. Of course, it's likely that others will transfer out, but hopefully it won't be half the team.

Wildcat NIL is just starting to build, and will lead to more NIL availability in 2024 & beyond IMO.
This should be able to incentivize top tier talent for both basketball & football.

I might be able to become a Jerome Tang fan, but not until he learns that sometimes silence is golden. He could definitely learn a few things from Bill Snyder.

If he left, that would be heartbreaking. We are so lucky to have gotten him as he is a great person and coach. He has such amazing passion that we are lucky to have being a smaller school.
I would probably stop watching the basketball team if he is gone.

I go all the way back to Cotton Fitzsimmons. I cannot name a KSU Coach that is a better match for KSU relative to time and culture than Jerome Tang. This includes Lonnie Kruger.
Coach Tang in 2024 breaks through every barrier that is put in front of him with love and joy. You do not find many individuals like that. When you do consider yourself blessed.
