Uh, I don't "hate" anyone. I disapprove of this coach for reasons I have already stated. I guess you missed that. This episode further provides reasons why this coach is not a good fit for my university.spot2180 wrote: ↑March 23rd, 2024, 7:10 amStill, after all this time and supposedly hearing it from a 'source', few to none here knows the exact details of what happened, otherwise it would be much more clear cut, wouldn't it? If that source wasn't an eye witness to the event, it is second, third or even fourth hand information.learnin wrote: ↑March 23rd, 2024, 1:16 am
I heard from a very good source probably before any one on this board knew. Later it began to surface here and other places so I assumed my source was correct. But, do we really need direct evidence of the punch? Does it matter if the charges were dropped? I trust a man, who has worked himself up through academia to become president of this University. I trust his decision over the protests of those who are pissed that they might have missed out on a NCAA bid. I, also, watched Tomlin get multiple technicals last season and wondered if he might have anger issues. Then, I saw him get two technicals right after he began to play for Memphis.
I think it might be time to just let this go and move on. Tomlin moved on. I think we should all move on. This season is over. Those complaining about players and the coach were not happy when the coach was hired, so nothing he can say or do will placate those who think he should have never been hired. Linton did what he did. Should he be fired for it? Should he be fired for wins we didn't get to enjoy? How many wins would that have been? How many wins in that window of time should be the standard? And...Tomlin moved on to another team and isn't coming back. For all we know, he's adjusted to his situation and playing basketball. He may hate KState now, but he wouldn't be the first athlete we've had at KState who left under circumstances he/she thought was unfair and hated the school afterward. It is a part of life.
Those hating on Coach Tang right now, had their reasons when he was hired, and they won't change. I don't think he can do anything they like at this moment because their hate is deep enough to think he'd never be able to redeem himself in their eyes, for reasons they have yet to mention and will likely never mention. Those guys won't move on, but the rest of us can and will.
He went behind the back of the university president (maybe I'm the anomaly on this board in thinking that a university president has a right and obligation to protect the integrity of his school.) Coach Tang misled, even lied to Wildcat Nation regarding the path forward for Tomlin. Tomlin had no path forward after the bar incident. By his actions Tang along with AD Taylor, sent the message to Linton that they should be the ones to decide Tomlin's fate ... that the president of Kansas State University should keep his nose out of the business of sports. But when that business intercedes with the reputation and rules of the university (which is without favor to athletes) the president has the final say.
If coaches and AD's start usurping that authority, then chaos will ensure. When fans remove themselves from the principles that a university should stand for and value sports over the core values of the university (education, self-discovery, personal growth and other valuable tenets ), then it's time to step away.
