Re: 2023-24 team
Any coach that is 12-0 in OT games is doing their job as the coach. Hell, you win +75% of OT games and its a hellava coaching job. Close games require actual in game situational coaching. It's a crazy stat that kind of scares me the laws of averages will bite us at the worst time. Hope I'm wrong on that this year. IMO, We're just missing 2 key elite players as the difference makers. Missing an elite big man and another scorer (either a 1 or 2) to go with Perry. We need to win out. Unlikely but it is possible. Need to Believe. EMAW

So will overtime bite us in the butt in the national championship game?Tbonespop wrote: ↑February 26th, 2024, 10:25 pmAny coach that is 12-0 in OT games is doing their job as the coach. How many games have been close losses this year?
Tang is probably doing a better job coaching this year.

I agree Tang has probably been a better coach this year than last. Sometimes success is better measured by what is overcome versus what is achieved. As for OT biting us, I would not be surprised to see us win 2 of the next 3 games and get into a tight one in the B12 tourney where we need a big win to make it into the Dance. Hope it doesn't bite us when there is a chance to make the tourney on the line. Used to be if a B12 team could win 20 games overall with 10 being in conference, the resume for making the NCAA tourney was probable. As of right now, we likely have to win out and win minimum of 1 game in the tourney to get in - and even that would be a bubble team.SCKSCat wrote: ↑February 26th, 2024, 10:41 pmSo will overtime bite us in the butt in the national championship game?Tbonespop wrote: ↑February 26th, 2024, 10:25 pmAny coach that is 12-0 in OT games is doing their job as the coach. Win two of the next three and we are likely in.

Beat KU would help also. Would KU be able to rally if they got down like WVU did?
KSU would not sleep walk through the 2nd if that happened.
I think N'Guessan and McNair will have to have good games to beat Cincinnati.

that's where i'm at as well, xtra, two of the next three and one in kc should do it. 9-9 in conference play, 20 wins overall.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

Aside from Houston we have the longest current winning streak in the league.
I wish I knew more about Cincinnati, but they were close to Houston tonight. I think that we can win Saturday.
KU can be beat even at Lawrence especially if McCuller is hurt.

Our 7 overtime victories have been at home.
Not sure what that means, but it would seem like the crowd pushed us to the finish line.
The TxTech and TCU losses easily could have been wins. Bottom line if we win 2 of the last and need a good showing in the Big 12 Tournament, packing the Sprint Center with purple will give us a home type of advantage.

Who is eligible for another covid year of eligibility?
I think N'Guessan is. Who else? Perry? McNair?

DNG is eligible for an extra year I believe if he'd like to request another year. Perry is listed as a senior, but only showing 3 seasons of play per ESPN. Not sure about McNair, but it's showing him as already having five years of college play so I don't think he's eligible.
