And now they are having to deal with ordinary scum players in the portal and try to convince them to come and help fill out the roster and protect their darling class of new recruits.
Duke is in a free fall.
Since the end of the season, Duke has now lost seven players to the transfer portal. Stewart joins Power, senior starting guard Jeremy Roach, sophomore starting forward Mark Mitchell, Jaylen Blakes, Christian Reeves and Jaden Schutt. They have lost 2 also to the portal.

And those 5 kids are probably breaking the bank, leaving limited dollars for the returners. Ngbonga was obviously offered a nice chunk of change, I can't even imagine what the Flagg kid is getting.

Ah, the age of wide open free agency with no salary caps. If you sign one kid you have re-recruit the other kids you already have who play a similar position while also being sure someone isn't turning theirs, and the other guys on your teams, heads.

well, coach tang replaced all but two his first year. but yes, coach pope has a huge chore ahead.
