Well, guys and gals. I've posted more than once about how I've considered ending my support for college sports, Kansas State in particular. The unchecked cheating by many combined with a Wild West approach to NIL, the portal, salaries, etc. have taken away much of the enjoyment. Because of that, I am ending my decades-long financial support and involvement.

I will miss this group of avid KState fans. Your knowledge, passion and support of KState runs true. Thanks to those who put me in my place when needed , and to the many who contribute such wisdom to the topics of the day.

I will attend sporting events occasionally, but my Fall weekends will be filled with wife, grandson, travel, hunting, fishing, and everything else of enjoyment. I will miss each of you. I don't know you personally, but I feel like I've known you a lifetime.

Enjoy purple! Understand. Won't take much more of NIL and instantly available transfer rules for me to join you. Hope it doesn't come to that, but I like you have those outside interests to sports than can fill that void.

Been in Europe 12 weeks this past fall and this January/ February. Will be 13 by time I get home next week. Can't say I've missed much from a sports perspective but have never been a huge bball fan. Except pre 1989 when futility U was full swing. Have always and will continue to be a huge Cat fan. Like I said I hope they curb before I cut tail.

To each his own and much happiness for the decision.

I will, at least for a while, still enjoy watching collegiate competition. At 81, it still has entertainment value for me.

As for participating in these KSU forums, it's a way for me to hopefully keep mentally agile. ;))

Purple on white thanks for the comments. Yes generational... but accurate as the causes and effects here. Joy of entertainment is in the eye of the beholder. Tradition and rivalries are a part of the chemestry.

As for me I have been so disenchanted with the destructive changes with this new (Generation) ie the almighty buck/commercialism from the media agendas, that I too have changed my views of "entertainment". I no longer consider purple and white as a uniform. I reserve the term uniform for the military etc. For the sake of entertainment I now consider what ever colrors any entertainer wears as only a costume. Music,acting,sports, all costumes. In fact media talking heads and politicians are as only wearing costumes to try to hide their agendas and desires to entertain the sheep.

I am no longer interested in their "entertainment" I have lost the zest for the New days. I just find it lacking in substance, honor or dignaty.

So.... happy trails and it has been a joy of mine to have coached 12 seasons as a head football coach, 14 seasons as a baseball manager, 11 seasons as a track coach, and 25 seasons as a basketball coach. My joys now will be with my wife and sons and grandson. I gave up hunting many years ago so I will miss these entertainments now too. But we move on to what we respect. Joy comes in many forms....Inner satisfaction now rules for me.

I also wore a uniform and am proud of that uniform ...at times I fear that the government is using smoke and mirrors like the media does, but I will pull for the people to eventually turn the erosion around and hope that the codependency party of the big city-states will wake up to the concept of buying votes with no follow thru on their promises....That my friends is NOT really entertaining to me.......The state of Kansas was a great place to grow up in but Arizona has me never walking on ice again. My tracks trails are now easier to follow...no ice. Happy trails from that generation.

Sorry to see you go POW, I understand your stance and I might not be far behind you....I do believe these athletes do deserve their share of money for putting their bodies through the beating every football saturday, but my view is that the money they make should be from the sports video games, signing autographs, selling merchandise, etc....not from donations and gifted cars/trucks to play at a school. I'll always be a ksu fan- but i cant bring myself to donate money to these kids when there are countless other people that need the help and can use the money much more than these student athletes. It's just a ridiculous thought that i need to donate money for ksu to get athletes to come to my favorite school, and i refuse to do it.

I donate modestly, and annually, to two academic scholarships at KSU to honor my memory of two outstanding gentlemen in my life. I, too, refuse to donate to NIL as it is presently handled.
