After a lengthy football career playing, administrative and coaching Sean is shifting gears and opening a kicking academy. Very happy for him and know he will do well. A terrific person who has great knowledge of the art of both punting and kicking.

And the sister is ugly as a baboon's butt and meaner than a deranged badger.
We should pay his fees and send our kickers to him. I wish he was our special teams coach as we seem to be trending down in this area.

I would agree on all counts. What little knowledge I have is this. Sean would like to be an on field Special Teams Coach like he was at K-State through 2018, USC and Illinois. If not he will be more than happy to offer guidance to kickers and punters. KU had given some hope of an actual coaching role but they (like K-State) determined that they would rather have an analyst rather than on field coach dedicated to Special Teams. This is definitely a trend and therefore you see poorer Special Teams play across the board. At Kansas he was not involved in any coaching aspects on field. I would agree our once awesome Special Teams are basically par for the course and nothing too special. I hate to see that as this was one area we really excelled in for so many years. I am a huge Sean Snyder supporter and am glad he is not wearing blue and red anymore, but would love to see him in purple.

Question: Could the downplaying of special teams be partially caused by the kickoff rules that dictate that few kickoffs are returned anymore?

I know there's a lot more to special teams than returning kickoffs, but kickoffs, while admittedly dangerous, always hold the potential for a game-changing moment.

For sure Toledo, but I wonder with everyone de emphasizing Special Teams, if someone really put a focus on it if they might REALLY have an edge. I'm selfish and would love to see us be dominant again in that area.
