texas will rule the sec just as they have ever conference they've been part of over the decades. the fact they're talking about this nonsense a year before they enter ought to be a clue.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

Good. How long until Texas fans think they are too good for the SEC and pine for the Big Ten?

Texas will attempt to rule as they have dollars for days but the product on the field will be a .500 team at best in league play most years and a revolving coaches door as their fans will always want more. Texas or OU will be the Nebraska of the SEC the other might be sligtly above that but not by much. They have sold their souls for the almighty dollar.

I suspect that this will be the outcome. but time will tell. there are a lot of mediocre teams hidden in the bowels of the SEC. there is the outside possibility that it could get exposed.Texan4KSU wrote: ↑July 23rd, 2023, 8:44 pmTexas will attempt to rule as they have dollars for days but the product on the field will be a .500 team at best in league play most years and a revolving coaches door as their fans will always want more. Mizzou and aTm had a quick impact when first joining... but seem to have settled back into the middle of the pack.
SEC has done no favors to OU and UT with initial scheduling.
and that brings this 'small, petty man' more joy that is polite to acknowledge!

I think Texas will be virtually the same as they are now in the Big 12. An annual 8-4ish type team and fans across the nation will be yelling that the SEC is "too much" for Texas. Nevermind that they rarely won the Big 12. OU is the team that is gonna feel the difference. They are used to going 11-1, 10-2. They still might do that, but not regularly. OU was foolish following Texas. Texas has been foolish for decades.

texas resources will keep them competitive. and their temperament will be a pain in the arse for other sec schools. they won't go to their room like missouri.
ou on the other hand, i agree, wild, more likely than not that they become the nebraska of the sec.

I tried to be somewhat a texas and A&M fan when I moved down here, but I just couldn't do it. They can't stand each other and neither can anyone else.
They get what they deserve. Nobody spends more money and get less out of it than any other schools. I don't expect OU to ever finish higher than 3rd in the $EC most years.

good piece by berry tramel on tim weiser's outing the outs.
You won’t get anyone in the SEC to believe the following numbers, but they are true. The cumulative Big 12 standings from 2010-2022:
OU 89-26 (.774), OSU 76-40 (.655), Kansas State 67-49 (.578), Texas Christian 56-43 (.566), Baylor 65-51 (.560), Texas 61-54 (.530).

Probably more to it than just this but the records of these 2 schools against K-State has to be a blow to their egos. May have been much more wise for them to look at the way K-State does things and learn from them. They need to emphasize work ethic more in recruiting and approach. Stars are important but most really good players or great players have a very strong work ethic as well. This is primarily how we are able to defeat these schools on a fairly regular basis. OU has done a much better job than UT in getting players who are more selfless and buy in. Our ability to beat OU is very impressive. We have been their primary spoiler over the years and I'm sure they are sick of it. That is what they get for going after our coaching staff.
Their hiring of Venables as the main guy may be our ultimate revenge.
