Re: How to divide the new Big 12
keep all of the remaining original Big 8 schools together in one division , I'm not interested in being part of a reconstituted Southwest Conference

Into the realm of craziness....rajstat wrote: ↑September 10th, 2021, 8:18 amYeah. May be move at least one texas school in the other pod.CaptainEric37 wrote: ↑September 9th, 2021, 5:13 pm
Agreed. Old vs New was just an alignment for discussion. Travel for the "New" teams would be bad. It will be interesting how divisions are set. I could see this:
West: BYU, OSU, BU, TTU, TCU, UH
East: KU, KSU, ISU, WVU, UC, UCF
Personally, I would split the Texas teams, 2 in each division.
How about this one:
Red/Orange: OSU, TTU, UH, UC, KU, ISU
Others: BU, TCU, KSU, BYU, UCF, WVU
Or this one:
Animals: BU, TCU, KSU, BYU, UH, UC
Not?: OSU, TTU, UCF, WVU, ISU, KU

The former way of dividing the conference meant playing an opponent in the other division half the time. That is too little. I would suggest 3 pods of 4. Three games against your own pod, play three teams from the other 2 pods every year. That way you are playing 3/4 of the teams every year. Playing every team at least 3 times in 4 years.
I'm ssure they will come up with a plan we never thought of. They won't draw a line dividing the conference into a strict
north/south or east/west. It will be a combination of everything trying to satisfy each team and unlike what we would draw up.

Red/orange one is pretty good. I don't think these are crazy ones. You need 2 new schools and 2 Texas schools in each division.CaptainEric37 wrote: ↑September 16th, 2021, 3:23 pmInto the realm of craziness....

WVU is already challenged with travel. there's no way any AD would suggest BYU and WVU be in the same division.
Oklahoma State is going to insist on having all the Texas teams in its division. Travel will be huge bc of the paycut.
East: WVU, Kstate, Kansas, ISU, UCF, Cinn
West: Baylor, TT, BYU, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU,
Pretty simple.
Likely play everyone in your division every year plus 4 from the other division, so a team will only miss 2 teams a year.
If they add Memphis and USF, then kansas' schools will move to west div.

Looks good. This is the likely format.Nolaeer wrote: ↑September 18th, 2021, 9:01 amWVU is already challenged with travel. there's no way any AD would suggest BYU and WVU be in the same division.
