According to Washington's contract, Troy Dannen owes UW $1.5 million for leaving before June 30, 2024.

Nebraska got $4.12 million from A&M for Alberts.

BREAKING: New Nebraska AD Troy Dannen will make $1.6M base + $1M signing bonus + $100K increases over a 6-year contract (March 2030)

Interesting Note: Buyout is $12.2M during first year of contract and gradually goes down - triple what it was for Alberts. #huskers

I don't think this makes A&M better. But I think Trev will find out the boosters at A&M are a bigger pain in the ass than the pain in the asses in Nebraska

And the new guy in Nubbertown, good luck.

Most Cougar fans are not disappointed in the loss of Chun as AD. Moving from Wazzu to the Huskies is the equivalent of KU hiring K-State's athletic director.

There are a bunch of reasons why Chun would want to leave. Wazzu is having severe financial difficulties on the academic side and in collegiate sports. Kirk Schulz, the systems President of Wazzu, is probably a short timer. The break-up of the PAC 12 and the scramble for trying to survive along with Oregon State has been a nightmare for Chun.

My wife, son, daughter, brother in law and two nephews are Cougs. When we talk about WSU lately it is like everyone just had their favorite dog die. I'd like to think that what's happened up here will not happen to us down the road but KSU really does not move the needle on a national basis and nobody in power is going to give a sh!t about us either when it's nut cutting time.

I know it's little consolation, but I saw where the departing members of the Pac-12 will have to pay $65 million to WSU and OSU. Another post on the WVU Big 12 board mentioned that those two schools are close to a TV deal with the CW network. I hope it works out for them.

In the long run, I hope those two schools can find their way into the Big 12 or ACC. Those brands are too big just to be left behind with the other G5 schools. And you're right. If the Big Ten and SEC go their own way, schools like K-State will likely be left out, which with the way things are going (e.g., making players unionized employees rather than students of the school they play for), that might not be the worst thing in the world.

I agree with your last statement, stlcat. I don't see K-State being able to compete financially with the big 2. Let them go their own way into a semi-pro league. The K-States of the college world can then compete in true college athletics.
