Batcats get one hit in season opener.

Post by bhoovy » February 14th, 2020, 11:40 pm

Cats only got one hit and we struckout 14 times by 2 RGV pitchers. KSU started only lasted 4-1/3 and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits.

With a lot of optimism coming into the season this has to be a deflating opener, and the manner in which it happened against a lower level D1 school even made it more demoralizing.

Hopefully they can regroup and win the series by taking the next 3.

No time for angst. They'll be ok.

Well, we increased our hit count by 500 percent today. Still lost 5-3...

Yep another loss to lowly RGV. Now hope to get a split.

I will gladly eat crow if things turnaround, but I still cannot believe we picked up Pete Hughes from the scrapheap.

I’ll be surprised if Pete Hughes is the answer

He’ll get 4-5 years to prove himself.

The need for better facilities is the excuse often used to explain poor performance. Maybe the newer facilities will eventually bring success.

Yes he will. And like I said I’ll be surprised if he gets it done. I hope I’m wrong. We will see

Cats break into the win column with a 4-0 shutout. Jordan Wicks gave 7 scoreless innings and had 7 K’s.
Bullpen shut them down the final two innings.
Try to split the series and well as even the record at 2-2 tomorrow at 7pm.

I have no idea whether Hughes will get it done or not but would rather root and pull for him than against.

Were the upgrades and renovations already planned before he was hired or did he have any impact on them? They are pretty impressive and will hopefully allow the cats better opportunity recruiting.
