The Iowa State–Kansas State football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas State Wildcats. The two Big 12 Conference rivals have played every year since 1917, making it the 8th-longest continuous series in college football history, but the single-longest never-interrupted college football rivalry in the nation. The game in October 2017 marked the 101st straight year the two teams have met.
With this win we even the series at 49-49-4
We also now have the longest win streak at 11. Since 2008

I don't think Thompson's injury is a knee. I think it is something like a badly bruised T band (side of the quad) - which hurts like a MOFO. His lateral movement was fine, actually really good. That's super difficult with any kind of a knee injury.

Possibly so, but he looked to be reaching for his knee on a couple of plays and then on those in which he ran, he sort of reminded me of how Ertz was looking/falling at the end of runs. I guess he just needs to learn how to slide.Tbonespop wrote:I don't think Thompson's injury is a knee. And a quick shout out to Iowa State's #10 who was tracking Zuber every step he took until Thompson reversed field and ran to the right. He then left Zuber all alone in the end zone.

I believe the other DB/Safety was supposed to stay with Zuber, based on #10's reaction to the DB closest to Zuber. #10 came up when it appeared Thompson might try and run it in. #7-Lanning popped Zuber pretty good after he caught it.RichardZ wrote:And a quick shout out to Iowa State's #10 who was tracking Zuber every step he took until Thompson reversed field and ran to the right. I think I went through every emotion on that play. Before the snap, i was pretty positive until I saw the formation. After the snap I was cussing. As Thompson started scrambling to his right, I was sure there was going to be a very disappointing finish. When he threw the ball, I had hope again. On the catch, I was off the couch howling victory.
I loved the last drive. I just wish most of the Cats' offensive possessions looked like the last two drives.
I love the way Barnes runs, but I hate it when Dimel sends him sideways. The toss play where he threw the jump pass is the kind of formation a back like him needs. Get down hill now--inside zone or outside zone/stretch--, make a cut, off to the races. Warmack and Silmon are the zone read guys. I know that makes it easier on the defense, but Warmack saved the game despite the play calling.
Still happy with the result. I would love to see the SEC team in a bowl. A rematch with Vandy would be fun.

Gee, Vandy has a 5 -7 record. I don't think they are going bowling Dude.

Missouri is rumored in Liberty - Missouri and KState would fill up that stadium easy - and it’s a rematch of old rivalry -

While I don't condone the words Sean used....just not my style...I certainly appreciated the passion. There's a time where a person has to stand up for your beliefs and say enough is enough. I think some of this began building from the Vandy reverse call and other calls. After all, he is the Asst HC...I think. What a nice 8 seconds to end the regular season on. Well done players, coaches and whoever else contributed to the final win.
And, yes, as mentioned earlier, what a great block by Barnes to protect Thompson's release to the right side. I didn't notice that before it was mentioned.
