watched tcu/bakersfield game last night, and the tcu announcers went out of their way to say that dean wade could be national poy and k-state is an F4 quality outfit this year. thought that was uncalled, refreshing praise for da cats coming all the way from cowtown. :fistbump:

ps: frogs won at the end in a close game that cal state, bakersfield led for most of the way.
And TCU is a top 25 team?

"TCU opened the season without junior point guard Jaylen Fisher, who will miss at least a couple of weeks while recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in September. He missed the final 16 games last season after torn meniscus in that knee. ... Sophomore forward Kouat Noi also was out because of a right knee issue that is not thought to be serious."

TCU will miss Vlad & Williams. Vlad was a very good inside scorer and Williams was good enough that he is on an NBA roster. They were #1&2 in rebounds and scoring for TCU last year. I think they will be good this year if Fisher comes back 100%, but it might take a while to gel and to figure out where to best get the 34 points & 17 rebounds that graduated.

To me there is a tiers in the Big 12:

You have your title favorite and main title contenders in KU, K-State and WVU
Then you have your tournament teams or bubble teams in: UT, ISU, TCU and TTU
At the bottom, you have teams that are just going to be bad: OU, BU and OSU

To compete for the the league title, you have to sweep the bottom tier (6-0), go 2 games above .500 in the middle tier (5-3), and split the top tier (2-2). That would be a 13-5 record. Even then, it might not be enough to win it all, but should put a team in the conversation.
