Coal Fired Power Plant Closings

Post by xtrawildcat » January 16th, 2020, 9:57 am

More good news for Trump. He is on pace to beat Obama in number of coal fired power plants shut down during his administration.

Since entering office in 2017, an estimated 39,000 MW of coal-fired power plant capacity has shut.

If that trend continues, more coal plants will have shut during the first four years (2017-2020) of the Trump administration - an estimated 46,600 MW - than during Obama’s second term (2013-2016) - around 43,100 MW.

It’s the natural evolution of our energy economy. Coal is going the way of the buggy whip.

coal plants are going down because they can't compete with natural gas. gas is plentiful because djt has allowed america to become energy independent. coal plants are not shuttering because trump put bho-like restrictions on them in an attempt to kill the industry. these are market forces at work in a market-driven economy. yes, cars replaced horses.

What has led some declarations of U.S. energy independence is the fact that for the last two months, the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s monthly statistical report has had a negative number under the category of net petroleum imports. It means that when you add in every barrel of petroleum shipped out of the U.S. — crude, products, natural gas liquids like propane and butane — there was more petroleum exported than imported. Hence, the U.S. is “energy independent” in the sense that it ships out more barrels of everything petroleum than it imports. FreightWaves

another classic willis retort: i don't have an actual response to the argument, so i'll make some obtuse statement to throw a wrench in the gears.

Blowing up people in the middle east is a sign of energy independence.
Coal is dying due to the market instead of being forced out of existence by greengoofies.
