wefald proposes b12/p12 alliance ...
https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/02/26/ ... -together/
i've long thought this makes sense. an alliance, not a merger that pits ooc games in both football and hoops as well as broadens the pac12 network footprint into the plains, hopefully, shuttering the lhn along the way. wefald's idea as presented isn't going to work but perhaps provide a basis for further discussions that gain momentum in both conferences with kirk schulz out west being a kingpin.

Mr Wefald should enjoy his retirement and stay out of the sports scene. Why should the Big 12 give the PAC 10 a hand. They are under performing both athletically and financially. Didn't they and their sweetheart commissioner do their best to add Texas and Oklahoma. If the Big 12 is to do anything with the PAC 10 how about poaching Arizona and Arizona State?

an alliance is an opportunity to add quality ooc games and perhaps a conference network that would resolve the lhn problem that is an ongoing burr under ou's saddle. it potentially solves many problems for this conference including scheduling. wefald was asked for his thoughts by wvu's president, perhaps because wefald was an early player in the formation of the b12. you should read the linked column, perhaps.

You realize that California public schools are forbidden by state law to schedule road games in Texas and Kansas don't you? How would that work?

Why would we want to bail them out now? They do not share as much money as the Big 12 does. We would play games that started at 10:00 PM CDT. Who wants that?
Win the dang day!

When it gets covered in the left coast media, if ever, then there might be some fire to explain what is most certainly flyover country smoke, the idea of Cal and Stanford , and UCLA and UW stooping to the level of the Big 12 heathens seems remote -- even if it does make economic sense. I hope I am wrong but living in the Bluest of the left coast I have doubts this idea is going anywhere with the snobs running the Pac 12 schools.tmcats wrote: ↑February 27th, 2019, 5:02 pmexpect to see a lot more about wefald's idea in other media.
