Interesting Comparison Being Made OSU-KState

Post by Jax » February 12th, 2019, 1:07 pm

An interesting topic was started at Orange Power on whether OSU is turning into the new K-State. i think the real question is whether HCMG is beginning to emulate LHCBS.

Interesting comments. I would argue KSU was doing their thing when this conference was tougher. Ou was Ou, Texas was good, the Nubs were good, A&M was decent, tech was good, Mizzou and Okie St fielded good teams. The conference as a whole seems much weaker to me the past 10 year. But this is probably my homer opinion

gundy has a solid program. the culture at that school overall is a lot like k-state's. the sizes are comparable. k-state academics are better. but yeah, i can see why they'd see their football program turning into something akin to k-state's under the wizard 1.0 particularly.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

They are about the same. OSU has been growing KSU has been shrinking for obvious reasons. But neither is a destination for students. They are going to ebb and flow with regional population. Regarding academics, it depends on which ranking you look at, one is ‘slightly’ ranked the other in academics but neither is considered very highly rated. It also depends on which college you look at.

It seems to me that they are about equal in sports too.

Got degrees from both. Wife from OSU. Grandkids with degrees from both. Not a dime's worth of difference between the 2 except one is limestone and the other red Georgian brick with white trim.

There is no doubt the league has declined with the loss of CU, MU, MU & A&M. TCU and WV were ok pick ups when the league was in trouble, but not hardly equal replacements.

However, teams have to play everyone now and a couple less cupcake games now might actually make navigating the conference tougher.

As good as Snyder was, my only critique is that probably half his wins were against cupcakes outside the league. I’m not sure anybody in the Big 8 or Big 12 played a weaker schedule.

OK, I concede that directional point. It is weird.

Could not have said it better.
