McCoy makes it official

Post by stlcatfan » February 12th, 2019, 6:29 pm

According to the 247 site, RB Mike McCoy has made it official that his career is finished at K-State. I know this does not come as a surprise for most of us who have been following the situation, but still it is sad to see it come to an end due to injury, along with a condition he was born with that would make it too risky for him to continue playing.

It looks like Coach Klieman has invited McCoy to stay on, to help out with the program in some capacity. Definitely, a tough break for him, but I hope he uses this as an opportunity to get his degree and some work experience helping out the coaching staff.

Best wishes to Mike McCoy!

I can't imagine having the physical gifts he has and not be able to use them in a game you love because of some spinal defect. That would be excruciatingly frustrating. I hope he can overcome it and move on with his life.

Truly sad for the young man ... and a hit for KSU FB.

Stick with the program, learn from these guys and become a coach down the road! You had us all anticipating a
‘Beast’ in the making, Mike. Now take full advantage of that education.

I can't speak for M. McCoy, but my football career ended due to injuries (I was a good player with some collegiate interests, but was by no means on my way to the NFL, so please don't take it like that) and for me there were mixed feelings. Initially, I wasn't that upset over the matter. Life simply dealt me a bad hand when it came to football and I moved on. As time has gone by, it would have been nice to end it another way.

Best of luck to McCoy.

When one door closes another one opens, and it sounds like Klieman is giving McCoy an opportunity. Take advantage of that Mike!

Hate hearing it for the young man.

But now he can take FULL ADVANTAGE of the $100K FREE EDUCATION that many kid's parents have to pay for/go into debt for with no distractions.
In a perfect world, everyone would choose hard work, morals and ethics over obscene money and fame. And everyone outside of Lowrents would be required to be a red blooded, card carrying Payhawk hater.

Like many I saw great potential in this young man. Best of luck Mike McCoy and take advantage of the chance to help and coach for the Wildcats....

Life's a bitch. But, then it is a good thing the medical problem was correctly diagnosed before something really, really bad happened on the playing field.
