If it’s true we didn’t get him because we won’t let him choose his own assistants then this is over before it began. We will NEVER get a good coach if we dictate his staff. How idiotic.

In another thread I mentioned that I could see Littrell wanting to clean house and wondered then if Taylor/Snyder would allow that to happen. This is why I thought Snyder might get behind a Leavitt hire over Littrell. You can't tell me that Leavitt isn't a home run hire along with being a pretty safe pick. If I were Taylor I would want to make the safe hire right now in Leavitt (if Venebles isn't interested). Leavitt is fairly old so he's here maybe 5-8 years before he retires and we have moved past the Snyder era, probably even moved forward a bit in terms of recruiting and getting recruits to Manhattan. Then we are in a much better place to hire our home run in Klein, Coleman, Seiler, etc. The KSU culture that Snyder built is to develop the kids both on and off the field (Locketts, Whitehair, Nelson, etc). I would expect most of the fanbase wants to see that continue and I think Leavitt or Venebles are the best candidates to continue that culture.
Lot of good points. I may not agree with the logic but could be what very well happens. This next coach will be under extreme scrutiny. I'd rather be the guy that follows our next coach.

What happens if Leavitt discovers that Coleman, Seiler, etc. are not up to D1 quality? Does he get rid of them? Can he? Snyder is not the only coach at KSU who went 5-7. The whole staff did. Snyder is not the only one responsible for subpar recruiting, the entire staff is at fault.

Well 810 just announced the Littrell withdrawal and that Klieman was who they were zeroing in on.

I’m absolutely hate that decision if true . I know there’s at least one on here that’s for it, but I think it’s a 1980’s hire. This is a good P5 program with great facilities. Should be able to attract a better candidate. If this is true I think it’s settling. Big thumbs down.

If it's Klieman, every KSU board will be a dumpster fire for a while. It will not be a popular hire whatsoever. He does not check many of the boxes you look for, when hiring a P5 HC
