Nijel has parents who are financial advisors.
They are helping him to keep his money.
He probably will make some good money playing somewhere professionally.
This is a job he was hired to do.
I think them winning is secondary to him doing what is best for him.
He is a hired gun.
We have all had tough decisions to make and after we make them and time passes we realize it was not the best decision. Nigel's decision to leave may not have been the best decision for him in the long run but he thought it best in the short term.

or it may have been a great decision. he's making a ton of money. it's all legal now. he's playing on a team no one wants to face in the ncaa tournament. so, i've never had a problem with the choice pack made. his coach was canned. that's a lot of money. it's legal. he's a good youngster.

Despite the NIL deal, maybe we now know the real reason Pack left K State. He was told that his best path to the NBA was to work on his point guard skills. He would have had to compete with the "magician" Nowell!

just wonder: would the cats be better with Nigel than they currently are? not sure I can follow the logic. two shorter guys on the court. one less lengthy athletic dude for defense...

interesting thought exercise. at least to me.

right there with you TM: sure would have loved to have Nigel here... but if we respect a kid's right to leave early for the draft... how can one second-guess Nigel's choice here?
If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized...you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest

I am glad he is not on our team. He would have been a cancer on any attempt to build the cohesive culture that Tang wants. A lot of the players have been asked to set aside their personal ambitions and play specific roles for the team. It was a struggle for some such as for Ish and Greene. Sills could have been contrary. I think Pack's ego would not have let him to be content with playing a role.
$400,000 is what it took for him to try to play nice with team mates.

nijel is a good youngster from a strong family. yes, it may have been addition by subtraction for him to have left this k-state team because we don't know if markquis would have stayed or keyontae would have come here had pack stayed. it's a rhetorical question now. reality is that pack's miami plays houston tonight to get to a place k-state already resides, the elite 8.

But is Pack really the point guard at Miami? Seems like Wong takes on most of that role. Are there really defined positions anymore in the NBA? Many teams are using point forwards ... bigger guys who can handle the ball and pass. Is LeBron a point guard? How about Luka Doncic? Could a guy like Pack play along side a highly skilled forward and be a lethal scoring threat? You bet he could. If he played on the right team. KSU was the right team for him. He just didn't know it.

Pack made a decision that is better for him financially and at the time, he was recruited to replace miamis point guard Charlie Moore.

K state replaced him with Desi Sills. We would not have Sills if Pack stayed.
Maybe we do not sign Ames if Pack was here to take over point guard duties next year.

Good for Pack and I am happy with how Kstate has performed this year. Win win.

For Pack it is a 2 year play. Wong will be gone next year and the spotlight will be on Pack. He will be a good point guard and bomber, NBA will give him a good look. If they buy him some good players, Miami may even be decent next year.
