Re: Post title game thoughts?....
Watched 10 Minutes of it and saw all I needed to see. My take away: football always has been and always will be a game that is won and lost in the trenches.

I forgot the game was even on. Then again I haven't watched any of the previous championship games since the move to the 4-team CFP.
Looking forward to an expanded playoff in college football.

Saban doesn't recruit. Said it himself in an interview not long ago. Admitted that life has gotten much easier as the best kids presents themselves to him. Same reason he doesn't play ANYBODY in a true road game OOC. EVER. He doesn't have to.
I used to be a HUGE sports fan. Now....not so much. Haven't watched an NBA game in a long time. The protest league doesn't interest me either. And the Chiefs have sold their souls to the devil for W's bringing in more than one woman beater, so, no thanks for me on that front as well. And how many starters on either team last night give a rip about being a real STUDENT-athlete? College athletics as we once knew it is dead. Can't be revived. The have's/have nots gap is massive at this point. Unless they can somehow find a way to limit the # of 5* kids each team can have (and yes, I understand there is no way to do that) there is no competitive balance, thus you are going to see the same 4-6 teams in contention year after year for quite sometime. Yawn. Not interested.

In a perfect world, everyone would choose hard work, morals and ethics over obscene money and fame. And everyone outside of Lowrents would be required to be a red blooded, card carrying Payhawk hater.
Alabama wasn't that good of a team before Saban. In 10 years they won 6-7 games per year with Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione and Mike Shula as coaches. You have to give Saban credit how he turned around the program and maintained it at at a Championship level for this long.

I don't care for either Alabama or tOSU, but have a granddaughter attending 'Bama, so had to pull for The Tide.
From my years in higher education, the Big 10-14 is insufferably, and for no reason, snooty and arrogant -- both academically and athletically.

Heading into spring practices Alabama's roster features 19 players who were considered consensus 5-star recruits, in addition to 49 4-star prospects. bleacher

We will never, ever compete with that talent. I believe Alabama could beat an NFL team or two.

back when i was a youngster, there was an annual college all-stars v. nfl champion game at soldiers field. it was a continuous event from the 30s to the mid-70s. the all-stars were generally competitive but only won a few games, actually the series ended 31-9 with the last college win in the early 60s.
after the steelers mutilated the all-stars in '76, the game was shelved as the pros didn't want to see their draft picks beat-up needlessly.
alabama wouldn't stand a preacher's chance in an old west whorehouse against the chiefs. it would be boys-slaughter.
