Re: ISU Game Thread and Notes
It is maybe my imagination but seems to me DGordon is making strides almost every game. Needs to be stronger (what freshman doesn't) but he's slowly getting more assertive. It would be great if he could have a blowout game, win or lose, before the season passes into the dust. Getting a glimmer of what he can be. As noted it would have been great if those 3s had gone down last night. You have to work really hard to come that close to making a 3 and missing it. Back to back.

He's the best rebounder on the team. That's both sad (as it relates to our bigs), but also a positive because he does have a nose for the ball.Highway26north wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 3:17 pmIt is maybe my imagination but seems to me DGordon is making strides almost every game. Thats a new take. Used to be Can only win with inherited players and then it it progressively down hill from there. He broke that narrative so needed a new one.LincolnLarry wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 1:05 pmBruce has never been consistently good. He’s a feast or famine coach, and typically eats well when someone else has done the grocery shopping for him.

Yes, Dajuan must finish more of those underneath put backs and drives.xtrawildcat wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 9:46 amVery disappointing game. That makes two games where Solomon Young had a career game against us. Both losses. We need to get a little more production from our freshmen if we are going to win more. Need D Gordon to get a little stronger and more experienced so he makes those follow shots he is missing now. He is a very quick player but not explosive with the jump.
And need Sneed to either make more of his threes or don't take as many.
Final stats.

Good point. They definitely lack that certain something when playing under pressure.WIldWIllieCat wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 10:08 amSure didn't look to me like that team ever thought they could win.
I've seen teams like this before, that literally can't play well until they're down big and the pressure is off because the game is already hopelessly out of hand.

For sure. A team has to have at least 4 double digit scorers or 3 double digit and 3 scoring just under 10. This is the big problem. In yesterday's game, we had two double digit scorers.ToledoCat#2 wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 11:23 amBasketball games are determined by putting the ball in the hoop -- shooters.
KSU simply need more shooters. Scorers put points in from the inside. Shooters put points in from the outside. That's why we need shooters.

You have to keep in mind that, today, there is an 18 game true round robin. You have to play every team at home and away. We're having a bad season, but any such comparison is simply a waste of time.Kid In the Hall wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 12:17 pmBack when Wooly was coaching, we had 16 game league seasons. He went 6-10 four times and 4-12 twice. This team could finish with four (or fewer) league wins, which would make it the worst K-State team since Asbury went 2-14 in the 1999-2000 season. Bruce's worst year (so far) was 5-13 in 2015-16.

The kid is experiencing some bad luck with his shots going down and rimming out. That's just the way things are going this year. Then, when the buzzer sounds a second before he releases his last long 3, it's nothing but the bottom of the net. His big game is coming at some point.Highway26north wrote: ↑February 9th, 2020, 3:17 pmIt is maybe my imagination but seems to me DGordon is making strides almost every game.
