"a good shot to the groin"

Boy, there's an oxymoron if I've ever seen one!

Back on topic though.

My vote is World Camping Bowl.

Why you ask (even if you didn't)
1. Easy trip for me (yup, that's who it's all about)
2. Establish/Re-Establish recruiting in Fla and the I-4 corridor - Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota, Bradenton and surrounding areas
3. Take advantage of the state of turmoil in Fla college football (1/2-ass U (aka FSU), USF, Miami, etc.) in support of #2

wild@nite I love football, but it's easier to find playing time than in bball or baseball. Why? People with little to no hand/eye coordination can excel in football. You get chewed up and spit out in basketball/baseball without quality hand/eye coordination.

My experience is that people who dog basketball or baseball sucked at them.
Made All League Baseball team and had 2nd highest batting aveage. But it was boring as hell.
BasquetteBalle and running on a hard surface was extremely painful due to Osgood-Schlatter disease. Plus I thought it was just rude to not be allowed to tackle or use forearm shiver.

here's how the b12 published its final standings. that wvu loss was a killer that impacted not only here but automatic bowl placement. texas will go to the alamo, presumably, and avoid aTm in the texas bowl. too bad for everyone.

The importance of going to a bowl is to get the extra 3 weeks of practice. For a team like K-State which is known for developing players rather than having 4/5* prospects, this is huge. Personally I think all teams should be able to practice until the last bowl game is played, but life isn't always fair.

So really, I don't care where the Cats roll, I'm more concerned with when the bowl is....the later the better so that gives CK and Co more time with the team to develop the next Big XII championship class.

More practice time for the current players
More airtime and publicity to help with recruiting in a warm weather state which are recruiting hot beds (TX or FL)
Being able to sell that your a bowl team to recruits in general is a huge positive
Chance to end the season with a win over a possible brand name (Notre Dame maybe?)

KITNooga
you do realize ( :D ) that baseball and track are a whole lot more 'gentle' than basquette-ball? talk about your 'not too rough' sports.
Worst injury I ever saw (except mine) was a BasquetteBalle injury that took 6 months to heal. Steel braces encircled his leg in three places with steel wires running from the the circle frames through his skin and into his bones.

BasquetteBalle and baseball as played now are colision sports rather than football being a contact sport.

Funny thing, in the 50s and 60s I don't remember football players sharpening their football cleats like baseball players did to their cleates

every sport has it's risks. football is still the only collision sport. the rest, including hockey, are contact sports.

as for basketball? want to clean it up? don't let the kids wear pads.

I've read that Camping World has been in contact with UT. It seems they'd really like to have a prestigious school like Texas to match up with Notre Dame. I doubt that the Alamo Bowl gives a fig about what Camping World wants though.

I don't agree. Part of the problem with society is the all or nothing attitude. (And, no, I don't believe in participation trophies.) Absent a true playoff system, bowls can be an excellent reward for a team's success and effort. It means something to the players and coaching staff, so it means something to me as a fan.

FWIW, heard an interesting term on ESPN radio this morning. Commentator commented that Big 12-ization had come to the SEC. It was during a discussion of Saban and Bama's less than vaulted defense. Said the RPO has changed the game and that Saban is playing catch up.
It means something to some players sometimes, but not always. How many times have you seen teams (including KSTATE teams) show up for a bowl with false inspiration, just going through the motions? It's happened at least twice to us and every year I see clearly better teams get ran in lesser bowl games because the players aren't inspired to be there. I'll watch and I'll cheer, but honestly, I don't much stock into who wins bowl games. I do care about the exposure, but that's about it. I'd be perfectly fine if the playoffs were extended to 16 teams (which I think it should be) and about 12 other bowls, 8-9 played from Dec. 25-31, and 2-3 played on New Years Day. That means 40 teams would be playing in the post season. To me, that would give far more meaning to bowls and would give us a true playoff. 5-7 and 6-6 teams should not be bowling, imo. What a joke.
Definitely agree that there are too many bowls and no team that's .500 or less should be playing in them. It does diminish the value of the bowl system generally.
