Yep. Basket interference
And a miserably bad call at that. I can’t believe they made that call.

I love Dajuan in general on the offensive boards. He has great effort combined with great instincts as to where the ball will come off the rim. It’s super impressive.
I'm glad you mentioned the word, "instinct". This is spot on. D. Gordon has basketball, natural instinct. In every game this year, the young man has come out of nowhere to snag an offensive board. He's explosive quick along the baseline and uses his body well to protect the ball when going up for the shot. This happens almost every game, also. Finished a drive along the baseline in front of me, last night, that I did not believe he could finish. I was watching him, during a break in the action as the team was still on the floor, and everything about his demeanor shouts, "baller".
I notice that Xavier speaks to him all the time....something one might not catch while watching on TV. I believe X sees the potential there.

I need to mention a few others, also. David Sloan played a very good second half. I like this young man a lot. He had two drives of beauty last night with a defender in position to thwart his drive. Both times, he made great moves with the basketball. He is probably the best juco transfer we've had for a long while. Montavious Murphy continues to impress after having been thrown into the fire so early. The young man works hard on defense. If his first couple of shots had fallen last night, he would have put up his best numbers.

five comments after attending last night many of which have already been addressed here.

1. continue to believe sloan at point and carti at off-guard makes this team better
2. d'gordan has the most aptitude - so athletic, coachable, humble
3. mak was again quietly good
4. this kind of early ooc performance is not new around here, probably weber methodology from watching knight
5. mike is better coming off the bench

stay with the presser as coach talks about the new recruits.

Another far less than perfect game but still counts as a W and we’re now 3-0. I’m not overly concerned about the shooting. The guys taking them can hit them and hit them in bunches, except for maybe Mawien. I believe it will start clicking shortly and just happy to see the hard nosed D being played by the newcomers. I think we probably have about the perfect schedule for this team and I expect to see something quite a bit better once we get to January.

Very good post, tmcats. I'm glad you added the word, "humble", while describing D. Gordon. This is part of the demeanor that fans, watching in person, are able to capture. When other players, and assistants on the bench, are talking with Dajuan, you don't see any of this, 'Yea, right" type of attitude. He's attentive and you can see him ask questions. Local fans, who choose to watch the game on TV, miss out on a great deal. If you're avid basketball fans, you are better served being in person because you can gather a great deal of tidbits.

I, also, agree very much with your conclusion that we are better with Sloan at the point and Carti at the 2. This gives us more options.

You're number 4 could very well be right.

i remember knight emptying his bench five minutes into an ooc game and you wouldn't see the starters till the second half. that kind of discipline wouldn't be lost on someone like purdue's weber who would have been scouting iu at the time. weber mentioned the other day that knight routinely sends him directive texts. lol.

i'm sure you don't know but weber was there. that 'chair throw' was during iu's game v. purdue which the boilers won. gene keady and bob knight were very close even though mortal enemies on the court. bob had great admiration for gene and for good reason. i understand coach knight's health is deteriorating.

Bob Knight, Gene Keady reminisce about coaching days. ... Keady, 81, was 512-270 in 25 seasons at Purdue, recording a 21-20 record against Knight. Keady won Big Ten coach of the year seven times, two more than Knight. However, Knight is the Big Ten's all-time leader in conference victories with 353.Oct 29, 2017

The ol' chair throwing incident has several Kansas State connections. Gene Keady Purdue HC, from Larned Ks played football at KState, Bruce Weber AC Purdue, now the HC at KState, and Steve Reid, Purdue player on the FT line when Knight chucked the chair in that direction, was a former KState player from Dodge City, Ks.

Not to mention it was right around that time that Bob Knight was coaching the Olympic team during practices in Manhattan at Ahearn Fieldhouse.

as i recall, that was the season after knight's team won the olympics. he was mentally wasted and it showed that year, including the chair throw. reid went to k-state? he was damn good.
