The Dem/Soc debate

Post by ToledoCat#2 » September 13th, 2019, 8:55 pm

Watched the entire Dem/Soc so-called debate. My take? A gaggle of give-away, gun-grabbing socialism goofballs. Not one word about the economy which is most people's top topic.

I think any moderate, middle of the road, Democrat could beat Trumper in 2020. But I don't think any of the current crop in the primary can do it. Perhaps, the dem/socs could get Joe Manchin to run. Or the Montana senator.

I'm not convinced President Trump could be beaten by anyone on the left, or anyone else for that matter. The silent masses have spoken once and few have changed their stripes.

Pick 'Em

Post by RichardZ » September 15th, 2019, 3:38 pm

While the demorats and their co-sonspirators (the media) have tried every dirty trick in the book and have failed miserably. Never under estimate them.

Their latest wish, that America experiences a severe recession, if comes true because of external events beyond our control things could change over night.

Americans live in one hour TV cycles. Patience is foreign to most. Therefore with all the time left between now and a year of so from now could look entirely different.

I am still looking for the demorats to come to their senses and someone with experience, middle of the road politics and a reasonable thought process to come in on a white horse at the last minute. Talking to you...Joe Manchin

I didn't see or hear a lot of hope coming from the left for any of those candidates. It probably explains why no lefties have commented in this thread.

My mama always told me to keep my mouth shut when I didn't have anything good to say. ;)

BTW, I grew up and ignored her good advice. ;)

The Dems suck. Trump wins a second term. I hope the GOP wins back the House. They will get at least two more SCOTUS picks and a ton of other federal judges. The GOP would have all three branches of government. If things go wrong, they can't blame the poor, minorities, and immigrants.

In the next four years, the deficit will surpass the trillion dollar a year mark. Social Security and Medicare still need tweaked. Obamacare will be replaced by something much better. Or so I am told. There will be a recession, regardless of who is in charge, The GOP will have no barrier to doubling down on tax cuts and implementing fiscal austerity. I think it will be entertaining as hell.

On the bright side. They can ban abortions. Build the wall. Make more nukes. Cut more taxes. Ban gay marriage. Get the Christian version of God back into schools. And whatever else is a right-wingers wet dream. I am also sure that they will stick it to socialism, except as it relates to corporations, farmers, and anything that benefits suburbia and rural America

Not bitter. In fact, we should put the right-wing agenda to its fullest extent. If it is the best policy program and it is the best thing for America, good for all of us. If it isn’t, maybe America can figure out a way to take the best ideas from all sides.

Since the New Deal could have only happened because of the Great Depression, it has to get worse before it gets better.

Why would the major population centers go along with a conservative extreme agenda? If we don’t seek compromise we are heading down for an unstable country. No one wins.
