venables was my first choice but at the time i said it would likely be ck. the pattern was pretty clear.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

I was pulling for Leavitt.iowa_wildcat wrote: ↑August 10th, 2019, 7:55 pmI seem to be the only person to answer a direct question and reveal their choice. I disregarded the choices that had no interest in being hired to fill the job. Only time will tell if Klieman was a good hire. I do not remember pouring any sweet kid's drinks.

Venables was my top choice as well, but Brent is in a sweet position and I admire him for recognizing it. I'll go on record as saying CK was a fantastic hire for this program. He is unique in his own way, much like the wizard hire of 1989.
To me, he fits. We shall see how it plays out, but I've got growing confidence in him. Imagine what the players are thinking if he's already won a bunch of us over. In the end, it'll be about wins. I just hope the fanbase gives him time to build. I know I would have loved playing for him, based on what I've heard and observed to this point.

Leavitt was my first choice. I just didn't know anything about Klieman at that time. I am pleased, though, with how things have worked out.

I was a Leavitt guy too as he was a proven winner at SF as a start up and he knew what it took to win at KSU. That said, I'm 100% on board with coach CK now. Couldn't be happier. EMAW

Just want to throw this out there to remind folks. While our record last year was 5-7, we were 17 points on the season away from being 9-3 + a bowl game (we lost 4 games by a combined point total of 13 points). We have many returning starters including our QB that have another year of experience. There's going to be some bumps in the road this year for sure, but I fully expect KSU to be competing in the top half of the conference along with going to a nice bowl game. Expect to win.

you know, I remember very well a certain arrogant group of fans north of the great State of Kansas who were angry, pitchfork angry, and clamored for the firing of Frank Solich over not being able to accept such travesty as 9-3 seasons.Just want to throw this out there to remind folks. aspirations, hopes are one thing. EXPECTATIONS are fine too. but if they lead one to be absolutely angry/pissed off and ranting on internet forums about 'this coach' has got to go?
think about it. then think about all the nonsense written about needing Bruce 'out' in basketball. think about all the words written about how Barry wasn't what he thought he was. how dean would 'never' pan out. Do we get those last two years if we change out Bruce? Sometimes PATIENCE really is a good thing.
I now it's not NORMAL for folks on fan sites to think logically, much less rationally, but wouldn't it be great to at least TRY?
(this was not a direct reply to any individual)
If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized...you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest

further to the points made above, i listened to xm84 this morning, and they had an ou tim fitzgerald type dude on. they asked him all the normal stuff and then to rank the league. he was outspoken about k-state saying something to the effect: i don't get why no one is talking about k-state. they have skylar thompson who should have a breakout year. and they have a great new coach perhaps the best to ever coach in the fcs. watch out for k-state. the xm dude went numb. i told my wife: see, this is the difference between people close to the conference and the national guys who know nothing about what's potentially coming here.

I do not confuse hope/aspiration for the best with sunshine pumping. If Klieman turns out to be a great coach in the Big XII, I will be the first to laud his successes. Until then, I am a skeptic.KITNooga wrote: ↑August 10th, 2019, 6:22 amMajorAppleCat wrote: ↑August 9th, 2019, 8:36 pm
I've not made a decision either way. I'm not buying anyone's cool-aid at this point.
just another dumb question from a LFBIQ dude: why does having hope/aspiration for the best have to be evidence of 'buying the Kool-Aid'?
can't it just be enough to be here, on the cusp of a new season, new coach, all a-twitter with anticipation as to what we will see? not just opening game, season, but for the coming years as the program progresses under new 'management'?
