When we were in the mix for Weber (eventually hired Brown) I was open minded, remember him more for the work he did at SIU than Illinois actually. If I'm not mistaken Weber is from the Gene Keady coaching tree? This is an interesting place, I'm learning a lot about your fans. Plan to catch a game in person as a result.

Maybe this helps recruiting in the future? Opens some more doors? Although, I doubt the big recruits have stopped asking for money. Maybe the NCAA will open the way for them to make money off their likeness and the field will even a bit.

The 2017 team had these players:
Hamidou Diallo - 2017 class - 10th overall, 1st SG - Kentucky - 45th overall NBA pick in 2018
Carsen Edwards - 2016 class - 118th overall, 25th PG - Purdue
Kevin Huerter - 2016 class - 65th overall, 10th SG - Maryland - 19th overall NBA pick in 2018
Louis King - 2018 class - 20th overall, 5th SF - Oregon
Romeo Langford - 2018 class - 7th overall, 2nd SG - Indiana - Projected 1st round pick in 2019
Brandon McCoy - 2017 class - 14th overall, 6th PF - UNLV - Undrafted NBA pick in 2018
Josh Okogie - 2016 class - 182nd overall, 29th SG - Georgia Tech - 20th overall NBA pick in 2018
Payton Pritchard - 2016 class - 54th overall, 9th PG - Oregon
Immanuel Quickley - 2018 class - 22nd overall, 5th PG - Kentucky
Cameron Reddish - 2018 class - 2nd overall, 1st SF - Duke - Projected lottery pick in 2019
PJ Washington - 2017 class - 15th overall, 7th PF - Kentucky - Projected 1st round pick in 2019
Austin Wiley - 2016 class - 35th overall, 9th PF - Auburn
As you can see, it may have been that Kentucky was already getting the top players, but Calipari being the HC certainly didn't hurt in landing 3 players from this team.
Past coaches of these team usually get at least 1 player from the team to play for their school and most of the players are top 100, and a lot of top 25, players in their class. If Weber can use this platform to get one of these players that would be a huge opportunity.

Your credibility takes a hit when you speak on a topic you know nothing about. Just sayin'.mustang wrote: ↑May 15th, 2019, 8:24 amWeber was in the mix for the SMU job until he landed at K-State in the Spring of 2012, being chosen to coach a select team is an honor. I suspect some of it is the uncertainty of how good the team might be next year compared to the assumption that good things were going to happen the last couple of seasons.Gorhoops wrote: ↑May 15th, 2019, 8:33 amxtrawildcat wrote: ↑May 15th, 2019, 8:15 am
Why do you choose to be depressed. Maybe we are actually winning the recruiting battles. We'll find out in a couple of years.
For example,
1. We just won the Big 12 championship in a tie with Texas Tech. Had our best player unable to play in the tournament. I would say we are having the same success as Tech but but an injury did not allow us to have the same success as TT in the tourney.
2. TT beat us out for McCullar last year but instead we signed Dejuan Gordon. I would argue we got a better and more accomplished player as a result of McCullar signing with Tech.
3. We lose Grill partly due to early playing time availability.
If things go poorly in the future, plenty of time to be depressed and bitch and moan. Why do that when things are good.
I can't for the life of me figure out how someone can be depressed after a year in which we not only won the conference title but also ended the horrible streak from down the river. To each his own, but we won the conference title, we have two top 150 recruits and a juco recruit that was highly sought after out of high school and had really good offers this year. Yes, the loss to Irvine sucked, but man, I refuse to be depressed about the state of our basketball program. Considering the climate of college hoops with all of the transfers and early entries, I feel pretty good about how our roster has stayed in tact for the most part.

Seems like there are some that do not agree with you, again based on discussions I have had with some co-workers that attended K-State and have a bit of knowledge on the subject. Perhaps they need to visit this board so you can educate themhilltopwildcat wrote: ↑May 15th, 2019, 1:38 pmYour credibility takes a hit when you speak on a topic you know nothing about. Next year will be a down year, but the 2019 recruiting class is arguably the best class Weber has brought in, and there is still 1 spot left to fill, or at least the 2nd best behind the 2015 classhilltopwildcat wrote: ↑May 15th, 2019, 1:39 pmI suspect some of it is the uncertainty of how good the team might be next year compared to the assumption that good things were going to happen the last couple of seasons.
Out of HS, the senior trio from the 2015 class was rated:
Dean Wade:
Rivals - 4*, 106th overall
247sports - 3*, 172nd overall, 43rd PF
Barry Brown:
Rivals - 3*, NR
247sports - 3*, 250th overall, 49th PG
Kamau Stokes:
Rivals - 3*, NR
247sports 3*, 301st overall, 79th PG
And this senior class gave K-State a Big 12 championship, Elite 8 and the 6th most wins by a senior class (NCAA tournament lack of success kept this from getting into the top 5).
If these 3 make it to their senior year, should there be some decent expectations as well?
DaJuan Gordon:
Rivals - 4*, 105th overall, 24th SG
247sports - 3*, 155th overall, 26th SG
Montavious Murphy:
Rivals - 3*, 139th overall, 28th PF
247sports - 3*, 174th overall, 32nd PF
Antonio Gordon:
Rivals - 3*, NR, 50th PF
247sports - 3*, 480th overall, 93rd PF
Now A. Gordon is the outlier that brings this class down, but D. Gordon and Murphy are rated higher then the top 2 of Wade and Brown. There is still 1 spot to fill in the 2019 class.
What if they fill it with Nick Blake (248th overall, 60th SG in 2020) who could reclassify for 2019 and would be (234th overall, 35th SG in 2019)??

David Sloan is also a part of the 2019 class as a JUCO transfer. He has averaged 10 assists per game over the last two seasons. He was also fairly highly rated in high school, fwiw.
