I admire Mr. Sowell for his insight, knowledge, and willingness to speak out.

Wow. I don't know if this guy has more intelligence or common sense. However I do feel the 2 are inexorably linked and even intertwined. My appreciation of this individual adequately proves to myself that I have very little or absolutely no racism. Its all about ideology or, as some famous individual said, the content of the character. I have no hatred for those of color only for ignorance, selfish views and those who deceive to promote their own agenda

Perhaps someday the left will realize that spending money will not stomp out the last vestiges of segregation. It takes change in the human heart to stomp out segregation. That's as likely to happen in conservative hearts as liberal ones.

That's not what Sowell was saying Toledo. He was saying that it's not worth it. In fact, his entire interview can be boiled down to "not worth it" nihilism. Ayn Rand redux.

My comment was a general comment about what it takes to eliminate all vestiges of segregation. It has to come from within and I suspect Mr. Sowell would agree with me.

I'm sorry Toledo, but to call me naive in one thread and then in the same day claim that segregation was just going to end because people were magically going to all have a change of heart is a little bit jarring.

Yea, but the guy is wrong on every count. There is plenty of evidence that some policies work better than others. There is plenty of evidence that some people are better leaders (or football coaches) than others. This idea that capitalism is some free system is just a bunch of malarky.

Sowell's point: The libs could have control of Congress, the Presidency and the Courts, but it would not solve the problems inherent with human nature, which are unsolvable. Something Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have been peddling.
