Nealy…"The other answer is that rational people can disagree."

Disagreeing is one thing. Not coming up with rational proposals is another. 'The world is going to end in 12 years.", Replace very building in the United States, no more autos, no more airplanes, salaries for those who do not feel like working, open boarders, get rid of ice, illegal's getting to vote, killing babies before and after they are born. Ad nauseum.

Indeed....

The world is doomed if our choices are conservative denial or the most extreme portions of the GND.

The Green New Deal won't stop Yellowstone from exploding. The Green New Deal won't stop an asteroid. The Green New Deal won't stop a mass coronal ejection. The Green New Deal won't stop a global pandemic. The Green New Deal won't stop the climate change that has been happening for the last 10,000 years.

Just think how much high speed rail all over the country would mess with migratory animals. The wall is partially immoral and evil because of imminent domain. That must mean high speed rail is super evil.

Saying that the Green New Deal will stop climate change is a flat out lie.

"Ungoverned meritocracy of conservatopia."

Nice words. I love any good turn of words. Wish I'd thought of 'em, WWC.

Chemmy, name me the portions of the DeLPS' Green New Deal that aren't "Most extreme." Everything listed seems extreme to me.

Now, gradual, affordable changes to new energy forms, building upgrades, new transport modes. I'm all for them.

However, I'll never give up my medium rare, delicious, delectable, mouth-watering beef steak. Leave that to AOC and vegan Booker.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Problems with the deal:

1. No nuclear
2. No natural gas to facilitate transition to clean energy
3. No language on getting other countries to do the same
4. No solutions on methane emissions from cows makes it sound like they want to ban cows and Toledo wont get his steak (unacceptable)
5. 100% renewable is unnecessary to get to net zero carbon emissions
6. Related to #5, theres no language on vegetation restoration. Delta airlines has an initiative to get to net zero carbon emissions by planting trees. Lots of trees. And become more fuel efficient. Theres no language about this.

What's not extreme:

1. Infrastructure investment. Building more fuel efficient buildings, creating smart grids, and revamping existing buildings saves money while helping the environment. No one should be against this.

2. Net zero carbon emissions. This should be the end goal NO MATTER WHAT. How we get there is the difference between economic prosperity and economic collapse. We honestly should have started a decade ago. Instead we got Inhoff carrying a snowball as proof of a socialist takeover.

OK, CK. I'm gonna pretty much agree with your explanation. Pretty rational.

But, it's still not the original position of AOC and the candidates for prexy who hopped on with her idea.

EXACTLY. This is why we need Republican help on this issue is very important so that we dont have a one sided debate on the solution. No solution is not a solution.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, willie. Do what you gotta do.

Are you a believer in extraterrestrials, willie?
