Country stampede
is moving to Topeka for at least the next 3 years. Changing the name to Heartland Stampede. It's going to be a pretty big financial hit to some Manhattan businesses.
Heard a radio-head on 101.5 saying, "someone needs to start a rock festival" to replace stampede, and my first thought was, "why not you, 101.5? why does someone else need to start one?"

Sounds like the storms caused some excitement last night at the concert. It was mentioned on the national news this morning along with a video of people running from intense lightning. I don't think Heartland Park offers much protection from bad weather.

Attended Thursday and Saturday, parts of both days. Real bummer no Jason Aldean. Lots of back and forth on the move. Most seem to think it was a power play on Heartland/Topeka's part. I know I would have attended a lot more at Tuttle. Some people on FB actually think that the dam is ready to give way. I think it will lose the ambience of being in Manhattan. This felt like a mini-Arrowhead music event. I'd think that Manhattan could host a country music festival. This might be a chance for a rework of the past format.
I assume that most of the people in place were already hired to work the event at Tuttle so some of the disorganization wasn't understandable. I understand you may have to redraw the maps but I'd think most of the basics should be relatively easily transposed. I've thought it was a pretty lame argument that Heartland had just hosted a race a couple of weeks ago.
