Post by WIldWIllieCat » November 20th, 2018, 6:51 pm

Kind of startling that it's ALL romaine lettuce regardless of region:

32 people nationwide get sick and they say throw it all out. Seems like an over reach to me...maybe there's romaine monopoly though. I never throw out the stuff, but don't listen to me.

That was my thought, too. I just bought a big container of spring salad mix (for Thanksgiving) that had baby romaine lettuce in it. I will probably just eat it myself and not give any of it to my family, just to be on the safe side. And I will certainly wash it again before I eat it.

unless you count diabetes, that is.

sorry Mauser. been in the food industry a very long time now. just about everything we eat at one time or another has been 'bad' for us.

now, E.coli and Salmonella are and can be very bad organisms. even more so for folks with compromised immunological systems.

as to an interesting irony: there are not Ready To Eat (RTE) versions of flour available, that along with RTE ingredients can be used to make cookie DOUGH intended to be consumed raw. so we make it safe, then expect everyone to understand that you should not eat raw cookie dough at home that you've made from not-ready-to-eat flour and RAW EGGS as well as the other ingredients.

just amazing.

don't lick the spoon.
