Pointer for staying married for life

Post by SCKSCat » July 4th, 2021, 10:53 pm

I see where Jimmy and Rosalind Carter will be married 75 years.

I am getting close to 40 years.
My philosophy is to treat momma special and remember she is the real boss. A good bull snort to make her day is good to do every now and then. We put our faith in Christ before everything else and realize our marriage oaths were not to each other, but to Christ.

Just had our 56th. Got married one week after graduation

Our 57th is coming up soon in August. Wife and I have enjoyed each other's company for the whole route, but we know enough to give each other space and time for themselves and the activities we enjoy separately.

Children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren are the biggest payoff.

We got married just 2 weeks after my graduation from summer school in 1964. She supported my risky career moves and it paid off. I happily turned the on-going family finances over to my wife because she's good at it and I'm not. I'm better at making $$$ than keeping track of them after they're made. ;)

my pointer, after nine years would be to advise anyone considering getting married to make sure the other person isn't an asshole.
