Bitcoin

So, does anyone mess around with Bitcoin?

I confess I am less that knowledgeable or comfortable with the concept. But, I do follow it.

Today one Bitcoin is over $18,000

Is this the future?

I dont buy things with my phone so I guess that will tell you I drag my feet when it comes to something new.

From the outside looking in, Bitcoin always looks like a scam to me -- the ultimate in fiat money. But, I could be wrong and it could be the future of money -- but it won't be for me . ;)

It’s not a scam but if you don’t understand it, don’t buy it.

Just today it bumped up $2300 to $23,000+

One banker said it would reach $400,000!!!

Bitcoin is now becoming part of big investment firm's portfolios.

Paypal accepts Bitcoin also.

I still don’t fully understand it.

Me neither. But, then again I don't pay for my coffee at Starbucks with my phone. Listening to the business channel right now. Said Bitcoin is up 500% in the last two years.

The Ultimare Ponzi Scheme. All you are doing in buying an imaginary coin that you hope to sell later to a bigger sucker.
Like a Ponzi but they have made this one legal. You actually own nothing, unlike gold or silver, or a share in a corp. where you actually own some thing.

The dollar is the same once we got off the gold standard.

At the end of the day, currency is all about confidence and trust.

Correcto, Nealy, bro.

A gold based currency is the only currency that one can have confidence in. The Chinese understand this fact, hence, the all-out accumulation of gold in their attempt to displace the USA as the global currency.

As an aside, a currency equal in confidence to gold can be had by a parity-priced market-basket of basic commodities. Kansas's last member of the Fed, Wayne Angel of Ottawa, said so in an interview during his tenure on the Fed.
