Texas fires Aston
UT fired their women’s bb coach yesterday. She was at the end of her contract so no buyout is needed. She did a good but not great job considering their resources. I am sure they will have some highly qualified people apply.

Aston was a pretty good coach. The Texass's can't stand to be shown up by Mulkey and Baylor.

aston will find another job. she's a solid coach. she just couldn't beat coach mulkey.
baylor is the wbb equivalent of ut's oklahoma problem. they can change coaches all they want, but they're not going to corral kim without putting her in orange.

Why is there something rather than nothing?

That's a great hire. There's an athletic department that cares about more than just football and men's basketball. Yeah, I know, Texas can afford to care about non revenue sports unlike Kstate. But we can afford to care more than we do.

no, we cannot. we care enough about wbb to have a competitive team. when they fail, the coach is replaced without a buyout. that makes perfect sense to me for this athletics program.

It's always amazing to me how it seems in any sport at the collegiate level, you just seem to have a few who dominate. I'll give those who are very successful all the credit that is due them but if you put together talent like Mulkey or K or Saban, I'd say there are many more who could win a lot of games. It just boils down to who has the Jimmies and Joes (or Janes).
