Coach Mittie
There's been a goodly amount of criticism of Coach Mittie on this board and some of it justified.
However, just as he deserves criticism, he also deserves credit.
He has recruited both Peyton and Lee. Peyton was scarcely on anyone's radar, but Mittie found a budding star whose jersey will someday hang in The Bram. If she stays on pace, so will Lee eventually. He also recruited Breanna Lewis and a number of other gals who more than held their own in the B12.
He has a 6-6 gal from Wisc in the fold for next year.
I'm just trying to point out that Mittie has plenty of plusses as well as minuses in his time at KSU.

he has two b12 first-teamers and isn't making the ncaa tournament field?
Why is there something rather than nothing?

actually, i've never thought about coaching. although for the money they make, i probably should have reconsidered at the time. but that doesn't make me any less or more impressed with mittie's record here. deb accomplished far more.
i hope he's successful. i like him and his family. he recruits good girls to the program. peyton is a generational student-athlete. i just wish he put them in position to win at a higher level. maybe it comes down the road. let's hope so.

Yeah finishing tied for 4th and yet not even a bubble team and likely having to win your conference tournament to go to the big dance is both disappointing and mystifying.

It's not the conference results holding them back. It losses in the OOC to:
UT Arlington - 20-10 (14-4) in the Sun Belt - Not a tournament team
Memphis - 14-17 (4-12) in the AAC - Not a tournament team
Michigan State - 16-14 (9-9) in the Big Ten - Not a tournament team
You can excuse the losses to Arkansas (projected 7 seed) and Oregon (projected 1 seed) but you can't lose to non-tournament teams. And when you combine that with no great wins in the OOC, it doesn't help. Beating these teams really doesn't move the needle:
Omaha - 7-23 (2-14) in the Summit
UIC - 3-27 (2-16) in the Horizon
Oral Roberts - 15-16 (9-7) in the Summit
Incarnate Word - 14-15 (10-10) in the Southland
UT Rio Grande - 13-16 (8-8) in the WAC
Now KSU did beat the WAC champion UMKC team, but right now, they are a 16 seed. If they don't win their conference tournament, they may not even make the tournament.

That’s exactly right. My point was we finish tied for 4th in the big 12 and that should make us an at large team. But as you point out, the non con record has been atrocious and against competition that we should have more success than not.AJcat7755 wrote: ↑March 11th, 2020, 11:56 amIt's not the conference results holding them back.
