Ayoka Lee Honors

Post by MnCat63 » December 19th, 2019, 11:52 pm

Ayoka has received B12 and national honors which I have not seen mentioned on this board. For the past four weeks, she has been the B12 Freshman Basketball Player of the week. This past week, she was selected by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) as the National Freshman of the Week. She averages double digits in scoring and rebounding and just over three blocks a game. Here is the article on her national award from the K-State web site:

I watched her play in high school and so far, she has exceeded my expectations as a Division I basketball player. My CONGRATULATIONS to Ayoka!

All she needs is to stay healthy and have a decent team around her to keep feeding the post. She could be better than the Paris gal who played for OU 6-7 years ago. Lee is quicker on her feet and quicker up and down the court.

What I wouldn't give for Mawein to have Lee's soft hands under the basket.

I was pretty surprised to see an ESPNW article yesterday of the top 10 freshmen and Lee wasn't on it (not even honorable mention). I guess it could be that they were looking for contributors on highly ranked teams, as there were three on the list from South Carolina.

But regardless, they missed recognizing Lee, who will be a national force, potential AA
