The Lady Cats played a very inspired game, too. Otherwise, they wouldn't have won.
Lee is a great post. Best hands I've ever seen. But, she gets all the credit for scoring a lot when it's the entry passes to her that enable her to catch high and score.
Great win. Now kick Texass! Their coach is easy to not like.

We will have to disagree because I believe it doesn’t even come down to a last second shot if the stay in the zone. We win by multiple possessions.purpleprairiecat wrote: ↑March 9th, 2024, 11:12 pmWe will have to agree to disagree. The zone was losing its effectiveness. We would have lost if we stayed in the zone.

One thing is for sure, we will never know. They were getting some good looks when we abandoned the zone. Our zone is effective only in spurts. I think if we stay in the zone, WVU hits 4 or 5 threes like they did at the beginning of the game, and we lose by 4 to 6 points. The fans would have been on Mittie big time for staying in the zone.bhoovy wrote: ↑March 9th, 2024, 11:26 pmWe will have to disagree because I believe it doesn’t even come down to a last second shot if the stay in the zone. Good points. Gregory was effective getting the ball to Lee. She is an excellent passer. The Texas coach is downright cocky.ToledoCat#3 wrote: ↑March 9th, 2024, 11:19 pmThe Lady Cats played a very inspired game, too. Otherwise, they wouldn't have won.

sunday afterthoughts as cats withstand eers ...
1. that's the gabby we need to make a deep run - hopefully, this is just the start;
2. 3-4 from behind the line, 5 boards, 4 assists - a winning line, young lady;
3. serena had 8 assists negated by 8 turnovers but 14 points - that's good but not close to what she can bring;
4. yokie looked as healthy as i've seen her since the first texas game - 22 and 11 is sorta meh for lee but her health is paramount;
5. quinerly goes for 27 - she good - frankly, surprised that last one didn't fall;
6. just as surprised yokie missed both those game ending freebies - free throw shooting needs more volume than 10 and better accuracy;
7. the freshmen guards kinda wilted at the end - but walker hits a big trey and plays some tough defense;
8. surprised mittie went back to the "man" defense through the end - but it worked, i guess;
9. wvu is really a tough nut to crack with their quickness and the best guard in the league - that was a solid victory;
10. nice to see purple/lavender numbers in the stands - farmegeddon 3.0 lurking, both genders;

We were lucky to get that win with uncharacteristic poor play from Yokie and Serena at times. Serena was a turnover machine and some really dumb turnovers for such an experienced player. Yokie was shoving the crap out of their lanky center when she should have been cautious with 3 fouls. Got her 4th and was just one bad break from fouling out and losing. Throw in the missed FTs and we're very lucky to be moving on.

The season always has a game or two that seem to need a little good fortune or luck or whatever you want to call it when you think you probably didn’t necessarily play well enough to win but did. And the post season is also part of that. You make not apologies, just move on and hope you’re able to eliminate those mistakes so instead of good fortune it’s just good play that gets the W.
It will need to be good play to beat Texas. They’re as hot as anyone in the conference going 10-1 over their last 11.
And what’s with a 4pm tip time? Why are these semifinals being played in the afternoon and not the evening? Big 12 just doesn’t seem to do the women any favors.
