expectations for this year

Post by DMC » July 20th, 2021, 7:52 pm

I'm not confident of even having a 500 record. I'm just not confident in Middie's coaching skills. He teaches no fundamental. I was shocked with his extension. I haven't seen much positive, about his teams the last three years, other than a couple young ladies. Middie struggles recruiting, he even loses life long KSU fans. Pllllease what am I missing. Why was he given an extension

Pick 'Em

i've sorta checked out on wbb. i used to have season tickets but lost interest as deb's program faded. this year, state has a great post player and some interesting newcomers. and i see this as a make-or-break year for coach mittie, not unlike weber in that way. but how good they'll be, i haven't a clue?

Agree its make or break year for Mittie. My expectation is they'll be better.
Win all nonconference games except vsOregon, @NC State, @SDSU (Hopefully win 1 of these 3)
Finish 4th or 5th in the conference.

1-3 Baylor, Texas, Iowa State
4-5 KSU, WV
6-7 OSU, OU
8-9 TCU, Tech
10 KU

Behind great post play by lee, improved guard play from ranke, ebert, and dallinger (national juco player of the year point guard), and better late game execution that will come from a normal year (and no 2 week break from bball in middle of big 12 play) and better team chemistry. Expecting much better season.

Also conference is interesting this year.
Baylor- No Mulkey and a few players transferred. New coach who came from the wnba and hasn't coached at a Power 5 since 2014.
Texas- Lost Collier (#1 draft pick) and Taylor (transferred to duke) , and lambert. Still have Vic who is a great coach and coming off elite 8, but those 3 played 40 min and only 6 players played total pretty much.
ISU- No Scott means theres is NO ONE inside, but guard play will be probably outstanding
WV- Lost kysre gondrezick who was drafted 4th, but a couple good additions.
OSU- Asberry transferred and no Mack, big losses. Havent heard of any big additions
OU- New coach, Robertson, no idea what to expect. But should? be 2 wins
TCU- ehh
Tech- only return 3 players after 9 transferred
KU- no idea except pick them last

Looking forward to going to a game for first time in 2 years!

PG is still a huge glaring ? for this team. If Dallinger is the real deal, I think 4th place is achievable. If Dallinger isn't much of an upgrade to the PG position I expect a 7 to 10 finish and Mittie should be canned Finally! We will have the best post player in the conference, players like Ebert, Macke, and the Glenn twins have a chance to make big contributions with Carrs 20+ attempts no longer here. But, it's Mittie, so I'd say 4th is probably ceiling. Bottom half finish would be a failure and hopefully the final nail on Mittie's career here.

i may be wrong, but i think freshman Serena Sundell may be the point guard. there seems to be quite a bit of buzz coming out of the Ice Center about her. at any rate look for her to make a solid contribution. if the newcomers don't make a big contribution and solidify the backcourt we are looking at another bottom half finish. it does no good to have the best post player in the conference if you can't get the ball across half court against the press. also, lee has to learn to stay out of foul trouble. we need her on the floor 35 minutes a game. the team chemistry will definitely be better, but if the coaching is remains to be seen..

I expect the gals to win 2/3 of the games this year -- just not sure which ones.

good article about Sundell on K-state sports.com this morning. perhaps someone more tech savvy than me can post it over here.
