Does Dean have any feel as to what the Cavs plan to do with him next year?

Actually tm that is just what the Cavs paid this year. Doesn’t account for what the Charge paid him or his 1100$ a week food allowance! About 2 1/2 times that.

And no Kat I haven’t heard anything.

Ran across this article from a local Cleveland sports blog about Dean. Probably about as insightful as anything at this point.

If I were Wade, I’d be a little worried about my future with the Cavs. He’s had some great moments in the G-League, and he’s been given some opportunities on the big stage. Most of those opportunities went just okay.

One issue he has is that there is a lot of talent ahead of him on the depth chart for his position. Between Love and Nance, they have the PF position covered.

Another thing to consider is that John Beilein quit. To me, Dean Wade is a very “Beilein” kind of player. So now with a new HC, playing time might be even more scarce for him. This is more of a speculation though.

Love might get traded in the off season, if that were to happen it would be good news for Wade. I think a lot of his future with the Cavs might be seen with what happens in the off season.

It doesn't look great with the Cavs right now. I would think a 6-9 guy shooting nearly 40% from 3 with a solid overall game would be a huge need for several teams. I don't know enough about the NBA to say who those teams are but OKC or Denver would be nice destinations.

Most of us would prefer to see Dean just about anywhere but Cleveland - bad team, eastern conference so he rarely gets to play anywhere close to home, expensive vets on the roster ahead of him - but he’s a restricted free agent so his immediate future is likely with the Cavs. What he needs is an opportunity. If he can sign a full time contract it will give him the chance to prove himself. The Cavs are loaded with expensive front court players - Love, Drummond, & Nance have multiple years on their contracts. They will need cheap bench players to stay under the salary cap. This gives Dean a chance. Those guys will get injured somewhere along the way. Step in and play well when they do and maybe you can parlay that into more playing time and a better contract

The sad thing to further what Piedmont said is that those multi million frontline guys on the Cavs just aren’t exceptional NBA players either. It’s a sad reality that playing time is determined by $ signs and not talent.... and the Cavs are not the only team like that. Most are. Dean scared the heck out of them in his appearances because he played really really well. More $ signs for the Cavs. As Piedmont said they don’t have much salary cap room.

Just seems like they overpaid Love. Was that to get him there to try to make LeBron happy? I don't know much about the other players. Certainly seems unfair to be able to keep a young player down due to poor management.
