Dotson’s going to be a heck of a pro. The open floor and his speed are a match made in heaven. I’d love to be a spot up shooter and play with a that guy.
I’m sure KU knew he was headed to the NBA so it probably doesn’t impact any recruiting.

i thought dotson was deserving of b12 poy last season. whether his game transfers to the league, i'm not sure. he's smallish and not a great shooter. there are a lot of guys who star in college and never sniff success in the league: jocob pullen, robbie hummel, jimmer fredette, on and on. we all know that. i'm guessing devon adds to the list.
Why is there something rather than nothing?

I think he'll be a second round pick, and be a back-up for a few years. He's going to have a much tougher time getting around elite point guards in the NBA. Great college player, questionable talent for the top shelf of basketball. His 30.9 three point percentage is not going to cut it. That's actually down about 6 points from the year before. All of his stats are about the same as the previous year, which makes me wonder what his ceiling is. He scored more this season, but he also shot more.

The G league is full of last years 2nd round picks and plenty of first round picks. Remember Horton-Tucker ISU, and Zhaire Smith TT? Spent all year in G league. 1st rounders I believe. It doesn’t take long at the next level to sort them out.

Of the two I mentioned earlier? No. Smith was a #16 pick two years ago. He got about 28 total minutes. About the same the year before. And he’s playing for one of the worst teams in the NBA. And Tucker-Horton has less chance than Smith.

Dotson can make it in the nba if he can make threes. I am sure that's what the development coaches will be working with him on. Whether he can get there will tell the story.
An example of what might be possible. Barry Brown shooting 39% from three for the Iowa Wolves on 227 attempts 5.3 attempts per game. -

The NBA is tough. I know most on here don't like it, but it really comes down to a fan's passion. Closest team to Kansas is OKC...it's tough to get real fired up about a team in OKC vs one in Kansas City.
Dotson has a chance, but his outside shot will need to improve dramatically. It's really hard to get by the long players in the NBA without an outside threat.
Who would have thought DeVonte Graham would become the player he has. He's had a heck of o ayear for Charlotte. Mason had a solid rookie year, but dropped off quite a bit the next. It all breaks down to getting to the right situation.
