It will be longer. Watch. I know not bball related, but with bball tourney leading the charge, thought it was appropriate to post here.

With the ability to do distance learning and with sports being cancelled, I wouldn't be at all surprised if schools remained closed indefinitely. We are getting ready to start Spring Break but had our students take home all of their books, etc., in case our school is ordered to close.

Many schools aren't doing online while closed. Obviously hard for elementary to do online, but certainly HS's are more equipped. Above my pay grade, but I'd think if the closings extend into April, online work will then be used to some extent. The issue will be the support pieces. IEP's, para's, etc...

They might learn much more efficient ways of having school. The number of support people is just crazy these days.

I disagree. There's not enough support people for Special Needs kids. My school has 7 Paras and 600 plus kids (close to 80 special needs kids of some kind). Meanwhile, basketball has 4 coaches for 30 players, football has 6 or 7 coaches for 65ish players, track 6 coaches for 50ish, and on and on.

More efficient ways of having school would be more support people for less priveleged kids, imo.

I’m sure they all vary. But at my school we have a class of nine kids with 3 paras and a teacher. Regular classroom.

Online schooling could work at the schools in which a 1 to 1 device initiative is in place. Unfortunately, not everyone has reliable internet at home so that could pose a problem. Doing this with Elementary-Aged children would be very difficult. I would not doubt if Spring Break is extended for all schools.

If it is deemed that kids cannot spread it, then this will be a moot point. However, I find this unlikely.

Regardless, there will be no easy fix.

My school has been ordered to close until April 6. Everything is preliminary (we are on spring break right now), but it looks like we will be using Google Classroom to conduct remote learning during this time period.
