McGruder and Wade

Post by Puffdad » January 15th, 2020, 12:58 am

Better topic than thinking about tonight’s game..... Clippers vs. the Cavs.....

Rodney —14 min. 1-3 fg. 1 reb. 2 points
Dean—-14 min. 3-5 fg. 8 rebounds 1 assist, 3 blocks, 6 points...only bad was he ruined his 100% 3 point % for the year with a miss...
😔

Two alums in the NBA and even though they didn’t play together they did work out together and they’re pretty good buds! I wish I could have been there to see the reunion!

That's a ton of production from Dean in just 14 minutes. Eight rebounds and three blocks is stellar.

One could argue that Hot Rod is the best (or one of) player to put on a KSU uniform in the last 20 years if winning is the measuring stick. Guy does it all on both ends and was always clutch. Not many better rebounding guards.

Think about this one. He LED the team in rebounds and blocks in only 14 minutes. His coach in the presser after the game called him "bouncy". Now I've thought about a lot of adjective's for Dean's game, but bouncy was not one of them! Amazing what a guy can do when his foot doesn't hurt him.

Definitely as hard a worker as anybody.

Honestly, Rod is a freak of nature as it relates to conditioning and work ethic. Reading the stuff from Spoelstra year or two ago about Rod's conditioning was pretty amazing as he would just destroy any conditioning test they had and would really make the rest of the team look bad with his ability to just go and go and go and go. Honestly, it is probably the primary reason he has had the career he has had.

As far as Dean is concerned, from what I have watched, he just looks pretty relaxed and comfortable, just doing his thing. I just saw this morning that rumors have Love maybe heading to the Suns, but at least probably heading somewhere. At that point if the Cavs are smart they will give Dean 20-25 mpg and let him prove his place in the rotation of a playoff team down the road.

The amazing thing to me is that his feet are no problem now after having feet problem for four years in Manhattan. Considering that a startling number of
our bigs have nursed foot injuries, we are either the most unlucky program around or something is amiss. It would behoove our trainers to look at whether or not ten pounds make that much of a difference or if shoes are a problem, etc.

Hey puff, first of all, hope you had a great birthday, and secondly, what shoes is Dean wearing? Does he have a deal or just picking what he wants?? Is definitely interesting how his feet are giving him no problems after all of the issues in Manhattan?

Agreed. When you combine all of those foot injuries with the recruiting misses and the current guys showing potential, but not getting better, it seems obvious that we need to address this part of the program. Weber has a good class coming in and imo he better address this head on by pursuing an upgrade within his program.
