my point in posting the big east/b12 challenge results is to highlight how bad the b12 is presently by comparison. and from that one can take some solace that k-state may turn the corner in conference play. the schedule certainly works to emaw's favor starting at ou, then tcu in the ood.

Hey TM, you’re stealing my lines. In all seriousness, that’s what I’ve been posting on here for a few weeks. The Big 12 stinks. Maybe the 6th or 7th best league in terms of quality teams. KU is good, Baylor is solid, the rest is up for grabs and KSU will be in it against these weak teams. So the season isn’t over because the big 12 gets 6 teams in the tourney regardless of quality.

Very possible that the Big 12 only gets four or five teams in this year. Still if we can finish middle of the pack in the Big 12 and don't make the tournament, so be it. For me the main thing is does the team keep getting better and particularly the newcomers and guys who return for next year.

i remember very well hugg's 10-6 team being left out of 'the dance.' that was a poor conference year just like this one is setting up to be and with many midmajors looking strong (see big east), the b12 could have 4 or 5 in the dance. this year.

my ranking today is just a wild arse guess because a lot of nobody wins in the list. and i haven't seen half these teams at all due to espn plus contract and other reasons like i don't give a rip until conference play. the two quality teams ku played ended in losses for the squawks, so who knows what's ahead?

We ain't runnin' and hidin' from anyone ....... so, we gotta figure some things out. Mostly, how to finish games. If we can't do that, then it don't matter how competitive we are with the rest of the pack. When the game's on the line, we play dumb, sloppy basketball.

I agree with all the good posts here except we forget the ESPN factor. ESPN is in big for the big 12. I agree we’re a 4 bid league (I actually think 3 but what’s one more), but ESPN will be lobbying hard against the mid-majors and pull for a 5th and 6th big 12 team. Just wait and see.

To prove my point, ESPN is currently projecting 6 Big 12 teams including OU and OSU who are both terrible. Regardless, both are projected to be in the tourney in front of teams that beat them and have better records. Tourney selection is a long ways away, but ESPN is already starting on the Big 12 marketing plan.
