Re: MState Vs. KState
Sneed's a role player. So he needs to figure that out.
It doesn't matter exactly when Stokes tested with the NBA, the North Carolina game made him believe that he belonged in the NBA. Small sample, and not reliable. Every player in college has one game where they are playing in the Twilight Zone. That doesn't merit a peek into the NBA locker room.

I dont think it's a matter of him not knowing hes a role player. I think hes well aware that he is a role player. But we dont have THE player for him to be a role player. He is forced into trying to become THE player because we dont have a go to guy.pulitzerdave wrote: ↑December 16th, 2019, 7:14 pmSneed's a role player. So he needs to figure that out.

frustrating as it can be and is, think I'm excited for more games and conference to start. expect we will struggle a lot. but this team can and will put together a couple of gems this year. find a way when all seems lost.
can't wait to see it happen.
If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized...you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest

There are two things, IMHO, that put a great deal of pressure on most Kansas State teams early in the year.
#!: The NBA bugaboo
#2: The NCAA tournament bugaboo
KU, Duke, Kentucky, Butler, Syracuse, North Carolina, Florida, UCLA, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Baylor, Arizona, Oregon, Gonzaga, Maryland, UConn, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Wichita State, Creighton, Villanova, and a few others have to play their way out of this media extravaganza we call the DANCE. Teams like K-State have to play their way in.
If KU loses to Duke, it's a good loss. If Kansas State played Duke, and lost, it would be a blown opportunity. Everyone takes a look at Kansas State's non con and says: "Man, there's not many chances for a resume' win there." If Kentucky loses to Evansville, well, that was an aberration. Kentucky's a young team.....they'll be better come March. Let K-State lose to Evansville and that was a horrible loss...…..they'll really have to do some work to overcome that one.
The names, and the big boy coaches, have to darn near go under .500 to play their way out of the DANCE. If Kansas State goes 19-13, they're probably not going to make it. You're going to reply, "well, a lot of these teams play a tougher schedule." You would be right, but it doesn't defeat my point that if K-State and KU play Kentucky and both lose, it's a good loss for KU and a missed opportunity for K-State. As soon as K-State steps foot on the floor, each game is vital if they want to DANCE. Slip up to North Dakota State and they're going to use that against you. Fail to beat Marquette, and that might keep you out.

We went to the tournament three years in a row, elite 8 and conference championship with Stokes. Stokes played a key role on teams three years in a row while playing hurt much of the time. If that is NBAitis or North Carolinaitis, we need some more of it.pulitzerdave wrote: ↑December 16th, 2019, 7:14 pmSneed's a role player. So he needs to figure that out.

Right now Stokes is averaging 17,7 and shooting 39% from three with 4.6 assists per game in his first 10 games for Polpharma in the EBL. Earning his living playing pro basketball.

The difference is that KSU’s non-con schedule is not the same as the very upper end programs. Those top teams play a few cupcakes, but they also play a bunch of tough games too. We play all cupcakes and maybe one or two teams with a pulse. We still get the Big12 ESPN boost just like the rest of the league. We just don’t have the non-con schedule to only win say 19 games and get in. We’ve had a long history of playing the poorest schedule around, in every sport.learnin wrote: ↑December 16th, 2019, 10:25 pmThere are two things, IMHO, that put a great deal of pressure on most Kansas State teams early in the year.

I wish Kam the best. I enjoyed watching him play. I'll never forget that North Carolina game plus the Arizona State game where the officials took away his spectacular game and handed it to Arizona State. If Kam had remained healthy, he would have left a greater mark on K-State record books and the program. If he had a little more size, he was definitely NBA material.xtrawildcat wrote: ↑December 17th, 2019, 12:34 amWe went to the tournament three years in a row, elite 8 and conference championship with Stokes.
