Marquette
I'm hearing there is a chance that Markus Howard doesn't play tomorrow. He missed their last game while recovering from a concussion and is still kind of iffy. The gameplan would be substantially different without him in it.

I didn't enjoy watching him last year. Barry's defense got negated by the fouls he got early, and Marcus went into a zone.

Yes, I hope he plays. We need to meet the challenge. That's the only way this team grows.

I think that the key is to hope that he plays..., badly. That is what happened against Wisconsin and Maryland. Like most streak shooters, you have to hope that he is not "on". When he is hitting his shots, you have to choose between him killing you from the outside or killing you from the line if you try to guard him closely.

“I hope the best player on their team and the best player in the country plays” says no one deep down. What kind of growth is beneficial of a beat down at home? At the end of the day no one cares if their best player played or not. I did not see much growth last night and could have done just fine without Howard’s 19 pts

Yeah, beating a team when they're not at their best is really an accomplishment. Why don't we just play a bunch of "directional" teams and fatten up our record. Let's play Washburn a couple of times. Throw in Emporia State and Pittsburg State. Then we can follow with School of the Ozarks. This would also cut down on travel expenses if we play them in their gyms. Those games should get us ready for the Big 12 season. Next time we play Marquette, let's hope that 3 or 4 starters are injured or suspended. Let's set forth the easiest path forward. That's how you play "winning" basketball.

So do you take Loyola’s final four away from them because our best player didn’t play? It really doesn’t matter in the history books. I just have never heard anyone around me say omg I hope he plays because if he doesn’t our win will be tainted.
